We got back from our month-long trip to France last night. We had a wonderful time seeing family and friends there (and eating very delicious food!). Now that we're back, I'm excited to start working on all the projects I've had spinning around in my head.
I'm going to make a freezer paper stenciled onesie for DS's 1st birthday at the end of the month, prep decorations for his party, sew my friend's DD a dress with some fabric I bought in Paris, make a tablecloth and napkins with fabric from Paris, make DS more hats and pants, and paint the frame of a large mirror we bought at the thrift store. I can't wait to get to it all!
I'm also excited to come back and see what all of you have been working on. ;D
I found it a little hard to get back into the swing of things. Good luck to you!
We were in Paris and Grasse (near Cannes...funny, actually, we ended up getting into Cannes the day of the beginning of the film festival. It was crazy, and I'm glad we weren't planning on spending up time in Cannes itself!). The spent the majority of the trip in Paris, where my mom is from. We have lots of good friends there and a few family members. It was a very good trip!
What did you do in Provence? I love the south. So beautiful.
That was a fast month! I'm drooling over the fabrics from Paris! Can't wait to see what you create!
Yes! It went by fast. I can't believe you're almost 38 weeks!!! That's crazy. Are you feeling like she could come early?
The fabric store part of Paris was insane. It's going to be hard for me to go back to just having Jo-Ann and Hancock's. There were at least 10 stores within eye shot of one another. There were also some specific stores dedicated to remnants called "coupons." But their "remnants" were all 3 meters. 10 euros for 3 meters of fabric. I think I have enough jersey to make Q's PJs and sweatshirts for a few years.

We flew into Paris, stayed 2 days, took the TVG to Avignon, where we rented a car. We drove to L'isle Sur La Sorgue, where we rented a house for a week. We hit all the markets (L'isle, Arles, Aix, etc, went to Salon de Provence, St Remy, Ste Marie, The Commargue, La Beaux, Gordes, Fountaine de Valcluse, Chateauneuf de Pape....You name it, we saw it. There was so much to see and do that we never did make it East SO, we are going back next Spring. (I intend to see everything that I missed this time)
Then we took the TGV back to Paris for 2 more days. Now, I am packing my bags and want to move there. I had never been in the south of France and OMG! It is the most fabulous place I've ever been.

She better not come early, as the one who watches our little guy is away until the 18th. We have a backup plan...but don't want to use it.
I totally kick myself for not suggesting to my uncle to go fabric shopping when he brought me to Paris. I was a senior in high school, but a crafter back then. That would have been an excellent idea. Maybe I should convince him to bring me back.

Yes, I think you should!
And here's hoping you wont need to use your back up plan!
I wish I remembered/knew (see I don't even remember if I knew you were going--how bad is that for memory)...anyhow, I would have begged you to pick up a Citronille pattern for me. I think it would be fun to try, but they are WAY to expensive with shipping!
So, what are you going to make now that you are back?

Aww...yea I mentioned it once briefly, but I can definitely see how you'd have missed that. I go back about every other year, do it'll be a while now!
Once I'm done with decorations for DS's birthday party, I'll get working on a dress for my friend's DD. I'm using an old pattern my mom kept from when she was sewing for me. It'll be my first dress so hopefully it turns out ok!!
