Absentia was really good for the creepy factor. It's streaming on Netflix. I had never heard of it and didn't expect much but was very pleasantly surprised. It's a bit slow starting out but worth it.
The Strangers is the scariest movie I've ever seen, hands down.
I haven't finished watching Cabin in the Woods yet. I've only seen like the first ten minutes and then I get interrupted. Worth it?
LHC, Cabin in the Woods is definitely worth it, especially if you're a Joss Whedon fan.
The Strangers was such a mindfuck because I could imagine that really happening. Bad people doing evil shit for no reason is much scarier to me than any paranormal type stuff. Also, I saw it in the theater and some assholes brought a kid that couldn't have been older than 5 or 6 and that poor baby started crying. I still worry about that kid.
@jalapeñomel - I haven't seen it it about 20 years so I'm sure I'd be disappointed!
It's funny going through these lists and having bits of movies/lines coming back to me. I've been sitiing here for half an hour going "oh yeah, that one!".
