Without seeing it, I would recommend putting a warm, damp washcloth on it. It might be an infected ingrown hair or small cyst. I get those in my groin all the time and they definitely hurt.
I get ingrown hairs sometimes in that area from shaving. Usually go away in a few days, but you could try hot towel compresses. That tends to draw the ingrown hair out (which I'm sure it is and NOT a boil). Gotta love sisters.

warm wash cloth and a heating pad should help. I prefer the word cyst than boil. I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not but it sounds less disgusting.

Boils are caused by things like ingrown hairs that make the follicle get inflamed. As long as you aren't having fever or chills, try to keep warm compresses on it. It'll eventually come to a head & start draining. Just keep the area clean, & wash your hands after touching.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't going to ask for a picture. I think a warm compress is a pretty safe bet for pretty much anything down there.
I agree w/ tea tree oil. It's amazing, and will probably dry it out quickly. If you use the tea tree oil for a few days and it doesn't clear it up, call your doctor.
Ive had small cysts there before. Its not likely a boil. You could sit in a warm bath of Epsom salt. I pop them, which is a bad thing to do but I can't help it.
I don't think it's a boil. It started off as a pimple, right? And it now feels worse?
With boils, I think they usually appear pretty quickly. This sounds more like an ingrown hair. I'd try the warm compresses or the tea tree oil. If it doesn't get better within a few days, then I'd go to the doctor. Good Luck.
Is it cellulitis? If so, do NOT pop it. I agree with the warm compress. You want to get the infected stuff to loosen up so your body can get rid of it. Is it red and inflamed? You should have a doctor look at it.

Believe me--I wanted to pop my "owie", but the doctor was like "Yeah, no. We need to keep an eye on this thing. It could get bad." She gave me antibiotics and told me to come back in a few days so she could check it. She drew a circle around it and everything.

How do y'all distinguish between an infected cyst & a boil? Is one better than the other? Just wondering after reading all the "it's probably not a boil, it's a cyst" responses.
