After the three missing women were found this week, I heard a statment from Jacob Wetterling's mom. I'm so sad for her and it's horrible that no one knows what happened to him, all these years later.
Does anyone remember this kid? www.findjoshua.com/chronology/ So there's a consipracy theory about his disappearance? Or TWO, rather - one about his disappearance being tied to others around the country, and one relating to an abuse scandal at St John's.
I've read the theories about all the college-aged men that have drowned. While its interesting, I think that people are sometimes grasping at straws. In all likelihood the men were probably drunk and fell into the water.
Oh, I remember Jacob Wetterling's disappearance well. All the moms in the neighborhood put us on lockdown for years. That poor family, what a horrible thing, not knowing.

I remember Jacob Wetterling's disappearance too. It was awful and even though I lived in a small town, it was one of those eye-opening moments in my life that there were horrible people in the world. Now as a mom, I just cannot fathom the despair and hopelessness that families of abduction victims must feel.

Just imagining - even for a second - what it would be like for DD to be missing, gone - is too much to bear. I cannot fathom how Patty Wetterling has moved forward all these years.
She came and spoke at my elementary school a year or 2 after he went missing. I can't even imagine how hard it is to keep wondering if he's out there somewhere.
I was actually thinking about this. I was the same age as he was when he disappeared and it is permanently seared into my brain.
I really wonder if they will ever find out what happened to the poor kid. I assume he was probably killed and buried in the woods within a day, but you never know.

Ok, flameful confession? I kind of buy into the theory that there is something else going on. I don't know what, but I don't think they are all a case of accidental drownings.
SAY MORE! I usually think this is all kind of nuts, being in the line of work I am and seeing people - esp college students - die of alcohol poisoning. I feel like, sadly, a lot of these families might just be in denial. Which I cannot blame them for one bit.

Yeah. I went to school in La Crosse, WI, where a lot of these drownings happened. A lot of people talk about a serial killer or group of killers that somehow drown college-age guys in the river while they're drunk. It sounds completely preposterous, but I'll admit to wondering if it could be true. There were just SO MANY of them. All male, all young, all drinking. Every time a new one would happen, the police would say it's just an accidental drowning. I'm pretty sure the FBI even looked into it.
There are several websites out there about this...they're called the Smiley Face killers because apparently smiley faces have been found near where some of the bodies were found.
I don't remember that kid, but I find it suspicious that so many young men are turning up dead in southern Wi. Although alcohol and water are a bad combo.
