My BFF asked me last week if I could help her with her DD 10th bday party. She wants to me to help her decorate and make things. I love doing party stuff and I know this is a big deal for her and her DD. BFF is finally doing well as a single mom and is happy she can afford to give her DD a party.
FMIL just told me she booked a beach house the exact same weekend of the party. There is no way I can do both. Do I miss a weekend at the beach with my family or let down my BFF.

Not exactly the same, but could you help make things ahead of time and then go to the beach house the weekend of? That way you at least partially participate in both. Or could you go to the beach house after the party?

Yes the party date is set in stone because of her custody agreement. It's 6/22 which is a ways away but I have my sons 8th grade grad stuff the 1st week of June and DD1's bday stuff the 2nd week. The 3rd week I was going to focus on BFF's stuff.
Do people really help their friends with their friends' children's birthday parties?
Thank goodness people know better than to ask me for such help.
She's not very crafty so I'm going to help her make some decorations and she asked if I would do and small candy bar. She's paying for everything. I'm just donating my time.
