The stencil work is amazing great job! I think you need something that stands out a little more. Can we see the whole room to get a better idea of what could work?
I think a contrasting color would chop up the wall too much. Also, the neutrality of the mirror highlights the amazing stencil. Could you hang it landscape instead of portrait, though?
That's an amazing stencil job. I like the fact it doesn't stand out too much. I think between the stencil and the wood below, a contrasting mirror is going to be too much.
SIZE: Okay, everyone seems to think bigger. Can do. I'm a little cheap, but I can make it happen. The room isn't actually very big, but I do agree still.
COLOR: Kinda torn? Me too. I think I might want something a little more contrast-y, but not TOO contrasty ... I was originally thinking I might want like a honey-colored wood or a mushroom-y taupe. Probably not black or dark brown. I'm trying to slowly lighten up our whole first floor.
ORIENTATION: This particular mirror only has thingies to hang portrait, but I would prefer landscape. Maybe that's a reason in itself to take this back.
STENCIL: Thanks, I love it too. We did it and then did a whole paver patio ourselves a few weeks later, and then IVF a few weeks after that. I'm surprised that neither of us is dead.
Let me go take another picture so you can see more of what the whole space looks like ...
ORIENTATION - I feel certain your husband can fix this for you.
Also - if you want a big, cheap(er) mirror - look at hobby lobby or michaels. you can usually get a 40% off coupon too.
