Missy Franklin. In addition to the obvious in the pool, she seems so gracious out of the water, and at such a young age for the media attention after London. I also think it's awesome that she turned down the sponsorship $$$ to swim in college, although I acknowledge that dollar for dollar it wasn't the most financially savvy decision.
Katie Compton who none of you know who that is. She is the world's best women's cyclocross racer. She races for the Trek Cross Collective. She is also known as KFC (Katie F*c*in Compton).

This sounds lame, but my mom. She never ever worked out. Then one day one of her friends was like "Hey, I really want to do a triathlon, you should do it with me" and they signed up for this group that trains 40 and 50 something women with little to no athletic ability to do a sprint tri. And they finished! And she did the race the next year and PR'd by about 15 minutes. This was probably 10 years ago. Since then she's run a half marathon and does all sorts of workout classes and loves it! She claims she'll run a full after she retires and has time to train (and she probably will).
My friend Pam. She is bad ass. She is not the fastest person in the world (she is a kick ass swimmer though, so she usually does pretty well in tris) but she works SO HARD. Whenever I feel like slacking, I always ask myself WWPD? (what would Pam do?) and the answer is almost always "suck it up and get your ass out there!" Quit is not in her vocabulary. Unless you are in danger of a poosplosion. That is an automatic out.
My friend Michelle. She is the fastest girl in the world and I look up to her in a "I will never be like that, but damn she is awesome" kind of way.
I'm not sure that I have one? I really look up to my friend/ yoga instructor Monica, she's incredible and soothing just to be around, her relationship with yoga is beautiful, but I'm interested in more than just yoga and meditation. I feel like I should research women athletes now. I don't like "sports" per sé (except IRL baseball) so I've never paid attention to any pro athletes, and my friends and family are not particularly athletic.... a pro athlete would probably be where it's at!
My cousin is my inspiration for sure! She is now coaching/mentoring me and she has helped me so much over the past year. She has raced in Kona 9 time and has done 22 Ironman races. She was even on The Wide World of Sports in 1991 as a featured age group athlete at the World Championships. There is a video of this floating around somewhere online but I can't find it.

Oooh! I met her at the trials, she was so down to earth and nice!
I am inspired by the triathletes on this board, because I find training for one sport hard enough, let alone 3!
I'm also inspired by all of the moms of young kids who find time to work out and stay healthy.
On that note, I'll give a special shout out to kams, who does both. She amazes me!
Oh my gosh Wines, thank you! That is so very unexpected and sweet of you. I feel totally subpar to most of the women on this board, including you!
coconutbug, gumi, & chw57 have little ones, too, and are much faster than me . I think there are a few more of us, & lots more with school aged children, and I think they are all amazing.

I think Lolo Jones is pretty. That's all I've got.
I like Lolo too, I was so disappointed the last two Olympics when she didn't medal
Me, too. And I didn't like the negative publicity that she got. She was signing autographs at a local festival down here a few weeks ago and I seriously wanted to go so I could see her in person...even though I'm pretty sure that I saw her at track meets in HS
