When you're in your first few weeks of being pregnant, what did you do about getting your work pants (or whatever) to be comfortable? I've been wearing dresses when I can to work but I am more of a pants person, and I'm needing to have the pants unbuttoned. And it's pretty visible that I'm doing this so I feel very sloppy.
Should I get one of those Bella Band type things? If so, where's the best place to get them the cheapest? Tell me what you did or do
The first time I got pregnant I had just lost a good amount of weight so I had my "fat pants" to get me through the first few months. This time around I had to break out the maternity pants early because I quickly became too fat for the fat pants. Thankfully I'm back in regular pants again now that first tri bloat is over even though by the end of the day they're getting a little uncomfortable. I haven't heard very good things about the Bella band but I'm interested in what you find out here because my work pants are a problem. Those babies will not button, and maternity pants won't keep my shirt tucked in. I need to be able to move around freely so I'm in need of a solution there too.
Ok, I'm weird, but I love maternity clothes. I'm wearing maternity jeans today, lol. (I've been eating horribly and I'm pretty sure I've actually gained weight since Brendan was born.) I started wearing maternity at 8 weeks pregnant. Sure, I didn't technically need to, but they were a lot more comfortable. And you can't say I didn't get my money's worth out of them.
I did also get a bella band--I think I got the one at target. It was OK, and I got some use out of it, but I was definitely more comfortable in maternity.
I was not a fan of maternity pants or bella bands. They never stayed up for me, and I felt like I was trying to pull my pants up for many, many months. Honestly, I preferred dresses, even though I don't normally do dresses, so that I didn't fell like I was losing my pants.
I did kind of a combination of most of the above at the beginning: regular pants in a size bigger, bella band (from Target!), long flowy shirts, dresses, or sometimes just leaving the pants unbuttoned but sort of held together with a rubber band through the button hole and wrapped around the button (usually under a bella band or flowy shirt). I put off buying maternity pants for a long time but I have no idea why, because I love them. If you didn't want to go full-panel maternity pants sometimes you can find the ones that look like a regular waistband (with button/zipper) but have some elastic in there for stretchiness. I had some jeans like that pretty early on that I liked.

I got belly bands on ebay for pretty cheap. I actually like them, although they can be a pain sometimes. But I definitely started wearing full panel maternity pants much earlier this time. They can be pretty blissful.
Thanks for the ideas. Well, I went ahead and picked a "be band" up from target on Friday so we'll see how it does. Aly- I saw your offer too late, oh well!
