I'm just beginning The Ninth Daughter, an Abigail Adams mystery. I can't comment about how good it is, as I have only read 4 pages.
QOTW: Erast Fandorin from Boris Akunin's series; Athos from Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers; and Gilbert Blythe from L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables series.
I'm reading the Gossip Girl prequel (It Had to Be You). It's... fine. The series is pretty bad. Half are ghostwritten and there are inconsistencies. But I've read the rest of the series and I had this one sitting on my kindle.
I'm also reading the Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in A Ship of Her Own Making, which I'm really enjoying so far. I've read a short story by the same author (she does feminist fantasy, sort of), so I can't wait to really dive into it.
I'm not sure about the literary crush! I agree that Atticus Finch is a great one. Looking at all my favorite books, the male characters are so flawed! Which makes for great books, but probably not great relationships. And 19th century lit lends itself to a lot of sexist machismo.
I just finished Dead Ever After last night and I'm not sure what I'm going to pick up next. I was a few pages into a Nook freebie (Touching the Clouds by Bonnie Leon) but am thinking I might switch to A Royal Pain by Megan Mulry (Nook Deal of the Day a couple of days ago).
I'm listening to Catch-22 by Joseph Hellman.
QOTW: I just finished When Love Calls by Lorna Seilstad a couple of days ago and I have a new book boyfriend-- Lincoln Cole. Of course Jamie and maybe Roger from the Outlander books. Sam Merlotte is also in the running.
I've got a stack of books to pick-up at the library; I'll start reading one tonight because it is rainy and gross and I have a cold. They include:
Daughter of Smoke & Bone Hellhound on my Trail Girls in White Dresses
I also have Gone Girl on my iPad/Amazon Cloud reader(totally logged into my mom's Amazon account to jack it). I keep forgetting I have it and I'm just not in the mood to stare at a screen....
Literary crush--you know, I'm not sure I have one? I just finished the The Infernal Devices series and I really liked the Jem character.

I am reading Hunchback of Notre-Dame. There is a 20 page description of "a bird's eye view of Paris." I definitely skimmed through that!
Hmmm, literary crush? I agree with the comment about flawed male characters being bad for relationships, but good for interest. I just scanned through my entire goodreads list and nobody jumped out at me. That is actually kind of sad, right?
I'm halfway through Mr.Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore.
QOTW: No one really springs to mind other than the obvious Mr.Darcy, but I think that has more to do with the way Colin Firth broods than the way Austen wrote him.
Still working on Hermione Lee's biography of Edith Wharton, which I was reading last week too. It's really long (>760 pages) but really good. She lead an interesting life!
QOTW: Literary crush. Hmm, interesting question! I think I'll go with Henry Tilney from Northranger Abbey or Mr. Knightley from Emma as played by the divine Jeremy Northam
Not sure what to read next. Debating a Nora Roberts two-in-one book Perfect Harmony, or Whiskey Beach, or starting one of her trilogies, either the Gallaghers of Ardmore or the Inn Boonsboro or In the Garden, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, or the next in the JD Robb series.
I have no idea lol. Too many choices that have accumulated over the semester from hell.
Also going to reread The Great Gatsby before I go see it Memorial Day weekend with my sister.
QOTW: Just one literary crush? Can't pick just one! Nearly all the men from Nora Robert's books. If I had to choose from among them, I'd pick Cameron Quinn from Sea Swept, Zack Todd from Dance Upon the (Three Sister's Island trilogy), and Gulliver Curry from Chasing Fire. Also Nick Fourcade from Tami Hoag's A Thin Dark Line. And Atticus Finch, of course.
I refuse to pick just one. I do what I want.
ETA: Roarke from the In Death series. Hot, rich, Irish accent...yum. How could I forget?!
I just finished The Mothers' Group by Fiona Higgins and have now started The Diary of a Young Girl. I read it in school but have recently read some other books based around the Holocaust so I thought I would re-read Anne Frank's diary.

I decided on Jewels of the Sun, the first in the Gallaghers of Ardmore trilogy by NR. In case anyone was wondering!
Under The Dome by Stephen King. So far I'm really liking it. I hope it just stays really bizarre, and doesn't fall into scare-the-pants-off-you scary!
I thought it was pretty consistent throughout until maybe the last 50 pages, which still weren't scary but just different from the rest of the book. I really enjoyed this book.
I'm working on Anna Karenina, which I'm now finding to be somewhat of a chore. For lighter reading at bedtime I've been enjoying Comet's Tale, which is about a man with debilitating illness and a greyhound he adopts and then trains to be his service dog. It's extremely touching and a fast read (I started it Friday night and am almost finished).
My book crush is Aragorn from Lord of the Rings and has been since I first read it at age 11. I would totally have been Eowyn, falling desperately in love and yet knowing I could never win out over an elven princess.

I considered this, but he's too conflicted for me. Faramir maybe. You know where you're at with Faramir.
And I would fall for Gandalf in a heartbeat if he was only more age appropriate! I like the smart bookish types!

But Aragorn is a king descended from the line of Numenor! Faramir is just a steward!
Signed, Slightly obsessed
(Seriously, though, you could do a lot worse than Faramir. He's a very nice, level-headed guy.)

Yeah, I just don't see the appeal in marrying into royalty. It's basically choosing your career based on your relationship. My career is a big part of my life, so I'll stick to being a steward's wife any day!

I was all about Legolas, but I fancied Faramir, too. Aragorn had zero appeal to me for some reason.
