Um, WTF was that? It felt so disjointed and with no actual conclusion. Is Don back on the prowl? Pete seems less happy and Trudy seems oblivious. WTF with Roger naked in front of the window?

Sometimes I think Mad Med is too "deep" for me.
i assumed he decided to go ahead and use the LSD alone.
i thought it was kind of a "meh" ending, but then again MM's finale's usually are. they aren't big on the whole cliffhanger concept. i did enjoy seeing peggy in this episode though.

Loved Don and Peggy in the theater. Loved Peggy in the hotel room after her first ever airplane ride (will she name those women's cigarettes Virginia Slims??)
That very last shot of Don giving his charming smile to the woman in the bar says to me that we're back to the old Don -- if his happy marriage was what kept him from being good at his job this season, then maybe we're supposed to think that womanizing Don = good ad man Don.
I thought it was interesting that Don did the opposite of what Megan's mother told him to do. Instead of convincing her she wasn't really an artist so that she would always be waiting for him at home, he got her a job doing what she wanted to do. I think he just wanted to make her happy, but it seems like Megan working will keep her busy, the same way Betty was busy with the kids. Leaving Don too much after hours time on his hands.
I don't know what to say about Pete. It seemed to me like he wasn't happy when Trudy agreed to let him have that apartment in the city. And if he really is depressed, that's the last thing he needs. Poor Rory getting electric shock therapy.
I also though Roger naked was supposed to mean he took more LSD alone.

I will never get tired of seeing Pete get punched in the face!
I thought it was funny that he was judging the husband on the train when he is no better himself really. He has cheated on Trudy from before they were even married I think. I believe he knocked up Peggy just before he got married. I don't believe Pete and Trudy have really ever had a truly loving relationship. I think they do care for each other but I don't think they were ever madly in love with each other. I think he got married because it was what men his age did. The same thing with Trudy. I think she was attracted to Pete because he was up and coming and could give her the lifestyle she wanted. Even her comment a couple of episodes ago about having another baby was not because they really wanted another, but because of what other people expect. This makes me think they are both just going through the motions. I kind of see them as another version of Don and Betty. Eventually they will come to a point where they can no longer bear to be together.
I was also glad to see Peggy at her new job and her meeting with Don. I'm secretly hoping that with SCDP expanding and becoming more financially stable they will be able to woo Peggy back next season.
I think Don will go back to his womanizing ways. I feel that with Megan getting the National TV ad that she will be getting more job offers which will have her busy and perhaps traveling a lot. Don will of course get lonely and succomb to his philandering ways once more.
I think that if Megan continues to ask Don for favors to get in ads, that he will become resentful and feel like she is just using him, which will of course make him want to cheat more.
I really like Megan less and less. I thought it was crappy of her to tell her friend that she would ask Don about getting an audition for the ad that she got because she asked Don for herself. There have been other scenes where she talks about her friends behind their backs. I was really hoping that she would catch her mom and Roger together in the finale.
I wonder when they are going to finally reveal the reason Megan can't have kids. In previous episodes she mentioned it's "impossible" for her to have kids and in the finale her mother made a comment about her not being able to provide Don with a family of their own.
I also assumed that Roger standing naked in front of the window was because he took LSD again.
Overall, it was pretty typical Mad Men finale. The season's never pick up where the previous one left off so it will be interesting to see where the next season starts.

Thank you for posting that shot - I didn't truly appreciate it b/c I couldn't believe the episode was over. I thought the visions of Don's brother were spot on - of course that's going to haunt Don when he feels responsible for another person hanging himself (i.e., Lane).
Whoa re: Lane's wife. I guess she was processing alot (even though the English don't "wallow?") but I didn't think she had a basis to go after Don that way. Maybe if she eased up on the spending, Lane wouldn't have been so desperate.
They could be setting up a Peggy come back - but I bet that only comes with a partnership. The Topaz pantyhose pitch really highlighted the need for female copywriters.
At first I thought all the call/hang ups to Megan were coming from Glen! But I guess it was Roger.

I thought she was horrible too until she bought him that Jaguar and it seemed to be his breaking point. He never could stand up to her or rein in her spending by telling her the truth. Instead, he just kept on hiding his head further and further into the sand. Lane was so sad but utterly spineless.
I think the finale provided a lot of "set up" for next season. Peggy coming back, the newlywed bliss wearing off for Don, Joan taking over Lane's job, Roger starting to experiment in the drug culture, Pete becoming more and more withdrawn. I wonder if something will happen with Henry and Don will move Betty and the kids closer. I bet they start back up when they're in the new offices and business is booming. Anyone know when the next season is scheduled to begin?
The acting on this show gives me fits. Most are just superb, and then there's Betty, Glenn, and Rory Gilmore. WTF? At least they're all recurring characters now.
I LOLed at the dogs screwing outside Peggy's hotel window. Virginia is for lovers indeed.
Did any of you catch that the woman who approached Don at the end is the friend Megan stabbed in the back?
I hope Peggy being in the episode AND at the very end means she's still on the show. If they are expanding, do they get her back or does somehting happen where maybe they take over the other agency??

DH and I were wondering if it was the same girl but I didn't think it was.
Overall, I disliked this whole season. The only good parts, IMO, were when Pete was getting punched. However, I'm vested in the damn series so I'll continue to watch. I just can't give up on shows I've watched since the beginning because I keep hoping/wanting them to get better.

I liked the season - I like how it's evolving. I couldn't watch 5 years of Don stepping out on Betty, that's just boring.
I did notice that was Megan's friend in the bar. I suppose she was trying to get back at her friend by sleeping with her husband - yikes!
I like Bowies predictions - maybe they'll have Dow Chemical when the season starts up. I hope Joan gets her fair share if she's really taking on Lane's duties. They might be preserving that conflict for next season.
I thought it was great. Lots of set up for next season without the huge OMG moments like earlier in the season. My predictions- I don't think Peggy will get Virginia slims...I think Ted will screw her out of it or something like that. Peggy can't have it all yet. -Don is ready to leave Megan behind...maybe not literally, but emotionally, when he walked away from the brightly lit set into the darkness, it seemed like he was leaving sunny bright Megan. -Joanie is ready to kickass and take names! Yeah!
The "minor" characters they had were neat: Hollis the elevator guy, Adam Whitman, Abigail, Archie, the town hooker who played the role of Adam's biological mother --- and Dr. Emerson, the actress that played the role of Joan's roommate and quite a few others.
The actor that played the role of the original Don Draper was a good one, too.

I really liked the finale and am very much looking forward to what next season brings.
I loved the shot of the partners looking out the window and also the shot of Don as he walked into the darkness, away from Megan and the brightly lit set.
Also, that was NOT Megan's friend at the bar. They look similar, but it's not her.
