We don't have a car seat in France. So far, we've been able to go 5 months without riding in cars, but summer is upon us. We'll be traveling (via airplane) to non-public transportation accessible areas and I need something light and portable for 4-year-old, 17 kilo DD. (I am unsure of her height at the moment, but she's always been tall for her age, so I am pretty sure she's at booster size now.)
Does anyone have experience with the Trunki BoostApak? Or have other reco's for something light, portable and relatively inexpensive?
We have a Boostapak and I love it! It's NOT approved for the US, but should be fine all over Europe.
You are proving your awesomeness again! So does other stuff fit in the Boostapak backpack? It's kind of ambiguous on the amazon UK site. Can I, for example, use it to store DD's "in-flight entertainment-" crayons, books, etc.? Since we're traveling on cheapo airlines, I am limited to 1 carry-on per person. That would be one suitcase for me to carry all of our clothes and 1 backpack for her.

Just curious - will you be renting the car? If so, how would you feel about renting a car seat? Most rental agencies provide them for a fee (in Germany it's 10€).

We're not renting a car. In some places, we're visiting friends who can't get their hands on an extra car seat for us and in others, we're mostly sticking to public transport but might have to take a long cab ride here or there.

Yes, you can definitely fit stuff in it! We don't have a car so we mostly use it when we visit the ILs, and we throw in changes of clothes for both girls, Bug's diapers, sippy cups, snacks. The only thing is you can't open it while you're using it as a booster seat.
