WHY is there no manufacturer that makes a decent prescription swim mask? I hate using my optical goggles in OWS because they leak and fog uncontrollably (either they're leaking or they're fogging. Sometimes both!) and have a small field of vision. I prefer to OWS in aquasphere Kayennes. But that means I have to freaking wear my contacts when I swim. Aquasphere makes optical lenses for the Eagle only, and I don't like the way they fit. Grrrr.
Why don't you like wearing your contacts? I've always worn my contacts with regular goggles (both in the pool and open water).
My eyes make a lot of protein and they get gritty/cloudy really fast, which makes my eyes feel tired. It's only tolerable for like, an hour at a time, which doesn't work for the longer OWS.

Interesting! But a bummer! I wish I had a suggestion for you!

somewhat related to your post OP, (but not really). DH has an astigmatism and while they make contacts for astigmatism patients, he can't wear them w/o a lot of discomfort. I finally convinced him he needs to just wear glasses. So he does. But he drives a lot and needs sunglasses.. I priced a pair of Costa prescription sunglasses.. $430 .. OH Em GEEEEE .. WHY are they so much $$$ ?? We are exploring other options for sunglasses, but holy shit i about fell out of my chair, and that is using frames that he already has. If we didn't already have frames it would be an additional $129 .. I love you DH, but no, just no.

I was shocked a month after we got married and I got to experience the cost of maintaining DH's vision for the first time. And he wanted a pair of sunglasses because he'd never had any before. Silly me saw the frame prices and said, that's not so bad. Yeah, but the $400 lenses are! Then he proceeded to lose them in less than 6 months.
Thankfully he was a good candidate for surgery and can now buy cheap sunglasses.

Oh lucky him! The Dr told DH LASIK wouldn't do him any good at this point. Bummer.
My vent is that I went to PT today for the first time since my concussion. 10 minutes at a slow pace on the elliptical and bam! Headache and dizziness. I just want to be well again!

I lose my sunglasses every time I turn around so I took my scrip to Walmart and got a "good enough" pair for $100 out the door *score!* (and of course I haven't lost them once......)

Sorry you are still dealing with headaches!!! Hoping you are up to working out again very very soon!!!

I despise walmart, but I might need to check this out.

Add yours!
I can't wear contacts either when i swim, i don't have prescription goggles either. When I swim outside I sight blobs. Building blobs,l tree blobs etc.

Again, I can't wear contacts either because my astigmatism is so bad. But, yeah sunglasses are super expensive. I bought new ones last year for about $350. It's so worth it though!!

I was expecting to pay between $300-$350... but $430 (which is only $80 more, but I have to draw the line somewhere) + another $129 (if we didn't use the frames he has). that is ABSURD. I'm going to look at some other brands - What brand do you wear? Are they polarized? He "needs" polarized for fishing.
My consumer hero Clark Howard swears by Zenni Optical. I ordered a pair of regular glasses from there last year for about $15. They are not the quality of my $300+ local optometrist, but they are good enough to leave in my purse. They were cheap enough that it won't hurt my wallet if I lose them. It's worth a shot.

I have the Nike Shows, with a prescription lens insert. Maybe an insert is the way to go since he wants polarized.
I'm annoyed because it never fails that the night before I plan on going to a bootcamp workout I CANNOT fall asleep or stay asleep.
Tonight I kind of half slept until DH came into the bed and turned on the tv and that was it. I was freaking up. I'm so dang annoyed right now. It happened all three days I planned on going last week. I ended up skipping on Friday because I woke up at 3:30 and fell back asleep at 4:30.
I switched to morning classes because I just about passed out during an afternoon session but I'm thinking I may hae to switch back if it means I'll get some sleep. Blerg.

I am so sick of catching every stomach bug that DS has brought home in the last 6 months. It has derailed my training for at least a week each time, and mower I have one again. I really hope the appt I have with a GI in a couple weeks sheds some light on things. And, I really don't want to miss the race I have on Thursday night.
I have prescription sunglasses, too. I go to the optometrist I've been using for years, and find the cheapest frames I can tolerate to offset the cost of the lenses. Thankfully my prescription is pretty simple, but the lenses still end up costing at least $200.
ditzydi - I feel your pain. I was supposed to run this am but barely slept last night. Happens every time. Either H keeps me up, the dog keeps me up, DD randomly wakes up a million times, the weather radio, always something if I have an early AM workout.
I have one more: The LLL sport bra that I bought to go under my Tame Me Tank (both have 'regular' non-racer back straps) sucks. It is itchy and uncomfortable, but I don't have another sport bra with straps that go under the Tame Me Tank, which I absolutely adore. Annoying.
