Hey ladies. I have been struggling with some weight (just a few lbs) since Jan. I started training for obstacle races (Spartan and Tough Mudder). I completed TM in April with really no weight loss (at least not solid weight loss). I have tried everything, including a BodyMedia band. I tweeked fat, protein, and carbs at different times. My water intake is ok, I don't over do it, but I do drink a decent amount. I do eat a mostly vegan diet for the past 2 years (vegetarian for 4 years before that). WEll after all that, I decided to just try to listen to my body. Well yesterday I was on the treadmill, running Yasso 800's and I noticed I started to get this bloated feeling. The feeling continued the rest of the day and all night. 30 minutes before I ran, I ate 2 tangerines. This morning I got up and ran a 6 mile hilly course and the bloat continued and is now worse. I ate nothing before this mornings run. Iremember feeling this way for the past several months after workouts, and I feel like this might be the reason for my lack of weight loss (only 4-5lbs). Does this happen to anyone else? Is this normal? Is there a way to get rid of the bloat or not get bloated in the first place? I will say I have had IBS symptoms in the past when dealing with stressful times, but haven't had issues in years. I also have run several HM's so I don't feel like my workouts are any tougher than what I have been doing in years. Help! TIA!
It could be a lot of different things. And I know vegan works well for some, but if you're training for a TM and Spartan I'd be worried youre not getting enough protein
You mentioned that you feel bloated after running. I wonder if you are gulping air. Sometimes swimmers can get bloated from gulping air. Google "aerophagia" or "aerophagia and running".
Yes, I have been tracking my calories. And I had been doing protein shakes most days to make my protein was at least 50 grams a day. My fiber is usually around 30 grams.

Could be this. I know yesterday I was breathing through my mouth a lot while sprinting.
I don't think being bloated is a reason for stalled weight loss. I don't know why it would be.
I'm just more bloated throughout the month...how do these feelings align with your cycle? I am completely puffed up this week, but I know it's because of my damn period.

Protein of 50 grams is not enough. I have been following 0.7grams for every 1 pound of body weight. So a 150 lb female that is active should shoot for 105 grams a day. I have been losing weight when just plain old calorie counting was not working for me before.
