i have no rational reason to be scared. it's just a regular checkup, but i've been having a lot of lower back pain and the got pregnant board had a "when did you feel the baby" post and lots of people said before or around where i am now (16 weeks) and i haven't so i want to ask for a doppler to hear the heartbeat, but what if i don't?
argh.
anyway. here's hoping i'm less of a basketcase by 11am tomorrow. i wasn't scared like this all the time the first time.
This is exactly how I felt before all my appointments my whole pregnancy. You will be FINE. Stossel yourself!
Big hugs for mama anxiety!
you're right. time to self-stossel.
apparently, in addition to the fact that i had a miscarriage which has apparently screwed up my brain, anxiety is one of the symptoms of a screwed up thyroid. i'm thinking this is why i'm normally okay most of the time, but then begin to wig OUT about 48 hours before every doctor's appointment.
Plus you know that every pregnancy is different...who knows where this kid is hanging out as opposed to L? plus they still have so much room to chill out at this point!
I feel my baby now sometimes at night when I am lying in bed after eating a freeze, lol. I would not have known that I am feeling movement except it happened during my last ob appointment when she was using the doppler, and she said it was movement I was feeling. She said most people have no idea what it is, so they don't know they are actually feeling the baby moving. I am sure everything will be fine, it's natural to be worried.

my 2nd pregnancy was way harder, and physically uncomfortable, much earlier than my first. OB said it is because everything is already stretched and loose, so things "settle' earlier because your body doesn't have to resist the growth of the baby/ute as much. Hence my earlier back and hip pain. So maybe something like that is going on w/ you. The flip and bonus side to that is that labor and delivery usually is much faster, and recovery is easier than with your first. Silver lining?
Don't freak about the movement thing. 16 weeks is early. You know this. Breathe Stossel, breathe.
I know how you feel. I had a check up this morning and was worried about not hearing the heart beat, too. I felt the baby move for the first time a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't felt anything similar since, so I was freaking out a little. Everything was just fine.

I felt the baby move at 15w (only knew because I saw it on the u/s and felt it at the same time.) I didn't feel anything for a week or so and then was so convinced I felt the baby moving until I found out the baby was no where near as high as the feelings I had been having so apparently I have no idea what the hell a baby feels like lol. Don't worry about it, I still have minor panic attacks on the regular that something is wrong when its not. Its normal.
I am one of the ones who felt it around 16w but honestly I was really thin to start out with so I expected to feel things sooner. My dr has said that even now at 23w if I didn't feel anything she wouldn't be worried. So don't worry. You'll be feeling baby before you know it!

I'm almost 20 weeks and not sure that I've felt the baby move yet. At my appointment this week, my doc said I will probably start noticing it in the next week or so. He didn't seem too concerned about the fact that I hadn't felt anything yet.
I agree. I didn't feel my baby until about 21 weeks and before that I had horrible back pain. Back pain was one of the symptoms I had before even knowing I was pregnant. It really does make a difference where the baby is at etc. You will be fine.
Also, you can download a doppler app on your iphone or ipad. I've heard it really works, but only closer to 20-22 weeks, but maybe that could help ease some stress. I've only tried it once, on the day of my last appointment and couldn't hear it yet. I'm not trying again until my next appointment, or there will surely be a panic attack in my near future.
Now I want to download this app, but since I'm only 18 weeks, what if I can't hear her yet?!? I'll freak out!
I feel like I must be getting annoying with how often I tell you I felt the same way. lol.
Let's just say I'm glad that post didn't come up about two months ago because it would have only had me freaking out more. I haven't felt any of my babies as early as some of them over there. I didn't feel Emily until 21 or 22 weeks, and Kate I didn't feel until 18 weeks even though I already knew what it was supposed to feel like. I was freaking out with this one when I wasn't feeling any movement at 18 weeks because I thought for sure I'd feel it around the same time if not earlier than I felt it with Kate. I was over 19 weeks by the time I finally started feeling this baby and remember feeling so, so relieved. I have no idea why I feel them so late compared to some other women, even now with my third, but I would try not to let yourself worry too much at 16 weeks. It's still so early.
I'm keeping you in my thoughts, but I am sure everything will be ok.
I rented a doppler from Baby Beats, both times, and it was money well spent. The peace of mind it brought me was worth every penny and C loved hearing the baby too.

Oh, I also meant to add that this is so true. I don't remember any round ligament pain with my first, but I started feeling it pretty early on with my second, and now this time it's even more painful than last, like stabbing pain every time I roll over in bed. Blech.

Yes! Second, third, etc pregnancies tend to become more uncomfortable earlier than your first. Also, things I had with C like early contractions I got even earlier and more seriously with K.
I did feel movement early with both girls, but I think that is just how I am built and maybe how my uterus sits in my body. but, i don't think that is the norm, so don't stress out.
Do you remember when you started feeling movement with L?

Dont worry, cville! I'm sure everything is fine!
That is exactly why I waited until the day of my appointment! Otherwise, I would have spent the better part of two weeks in the fetal position It's taken a lot of will power, but I only have two weeks until my NEXT appointment, so I will try it again then.
Against my better judgement, I downloaded the ap and spent the last half hour listening. NADA!! Maybe I heard thumps that maybe were kicks. Or not.
