I just don't know what. I was getting A into her pajamas just now and noticed dark spots on the shoulder of her onsie. At first it looked like ink but when I pulled it closer to look, I saw a red spot on her near the neck/shoulder area. It looks like a puncture wound. The blood soaked through the onsie in two spots and is caked on there, so not an insignificant amount of blood.
She's fine, was chirping and kicking away as I tried to get pictures of it. But wtf?
It's not something she could have done herself, judging from the placement of it. Maybe an older kid with a sharp nail could have grabbed her and done it, or she got stung by a bee outside? Idk. I'm towing the line between breezy "she's fine, no big deal" and what the hell happened to my child?!?

Hmmm... I would definitely mention it to your DCP. It would be a bigger deal to me if the daycare knew about it and didn't tell me. But honestly it sounds like maybe they didn't even notice since it was so small.
I'll definitely mention it tomorrow at drop off. The girl that was there most of today should be there in the morning. She was wearing a dark purple tshirt overtop, which didn't have any blood on it so I'm assuming they didn't notice either. I've seen them fill out incident reports for when kids scratch each other or fall down, etc.

I get incident reports from our DCP for DS all the time. (he's exceptionally graceful). But every once in a while they miss something and he comes home with a new scratch or scrape and no incident report. It's typically not a big deal, but I usually mention it to the daycare when I drop him off the next day.
H held her still this morning so I could look at it. It's definitely a bug bite or sting of some sort. I asked and she didn't make a peep when they were outside. Kid is a champ.
