black spots in stool

I've had doctors tell me that dark spots can be old blood (like, from farther up in your GI tract), so that would be my first guess. Have you called your GI since you noticed them? I would definitely give them a call to let them know in case they want to move your procedure up because of them.

Have you had an endoscopy done or been tested for ulcers? My thought would be that maybe there is something going on in your upper GI that is causing bleeding far enough up that by the time it comes out it's that dark.

I'm sorry that you're stressed, though. I just started noticing blood (bright red) in the past few days. It's making me really anxious because I've been putting off finding a new doctor and now I feel like I have to actually pull the trigger on picking one because blood cannot be a good thing. :/
