We are planting a small veggie garden, 3' wide. One side is a brick garage, the other will be crepping red thyme. Can I just do a metal edging flush with grade or do veggie gardens need more of a barrier, something above grade?

IDK. Mine is edged with old bricks and it's fine.

We just had a bunch of old landscaping rocks laying around, so that became the edging for our garden.

I think it depends on how aggressive thyme is. I've only grown it in pots.
