We got a puppy a couple of weeks ago and we've been working on crate training him. I know we've still got a ways to go, but how do you tell when a dog is fully crate trained? I tried looking around on the internet but couldn't really find anything on the topic.
My dog isn't crate trained (a crate big enough for her would take up far too much room in our house!). I say if your dog is content to stay in the crate when you are not home, has no accidents in the house, goes to his crate willingly, then he's crate trained.
He was crate trained when we got him from the rescue so I am not sure when they are considered being actually crate trained. For me though it would be when the dog goes into the crate when you say "crate" or your word for it.
Our puppy is in his crate during the day when we are not home. He doesn't wine or anything when he is in the crate. He will not pee or poop in the crate at all.
