you guys, my kid's going to graduate from high school exactly a week from today.
this is not news, yes? but i found out a couple of weeks ago that the little shit had a fucking D- in english - one of the few classes she needed to pass to graduate. holy shit, i thought i was going to explode. she needed a 60 to pass.
yesterday, she found out she ended up with a 62. fucking 62, people. jesus. she barely passed by the skin of her fucking teeth. i couldn't decide between hugging and strangling.

"I couldn't decide between hugging and strangling." Sounds right to me. I'd feel that way too. Maybe buy her Hooked on Phonics as a (sort of) gag gift for graduating? LOL
One of my brothers pulled that and my mom nearly killed him, lol. You were exempt from second semester exams as a senior if you a. kept a b+ average both quarters or b. improved your grade from q1 to q2. He deliberately bombed stuff q1 so he'd be sure to show improvement and be exempt from finals. Yeah, fail. He had to take finals anyway and squeaked out with a D.

I did the exact same thing to my mother. I just sort of stopped going to class around March.
I was chosen to give a speech at graduation and I had one of our assistant principals pull me out of class to tell me that they were printing the graduation programs on X day and if I were not passing English by that day, my name would be taken off.

What is considered to be an F there? DD is in the same position with her grade in math though it isn't for lack of trying. 8th grade has been super hard for a lot of the kids. Here we have to pass the year with at least a 70 to pass and the final will be 1/4 the semester grade so she is really going to have to pull off a miracle.
Yay for you and your DD. Mine had to take a night course to graduate because she failed it during her senior year (a Civics/History course, required senior year) and after she passed that she decided to fail another required course her final semester. ONE freaking English course and one math course. She's lucky I didn't want to land in jail for killing her because I have never been so close.
