oMG! on the one hand the ending with the wreck and Peggy's pregnancy was so cheesy and predictable. on the other the rest of the episode was amazing and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I also knew the wreck was coming as soon as they got in that car. My prediction is that Rayna will have a brush with death (coma in the hospital or something), but that Deacon will walk away. That will then make Deacon feel so guilty that he almost killed Rayna that his guilt is the only thing that could possibly stop his second descent into alcoholism. Or something like that.
Also, poor Maddie. I did love the scene at the end where she crawled into her mom's lap.
I'm sick of Gunnar and Scarlett and Avery. The proposal was so dumb -- if I were Scarlett I would have given him the biggest WTF face. A proposal does not equal an apology.
I also feel for Juliet. She really doesn't have anyone now. Everything I read last week was predicting that she'd become an alcoholic or something, but I'm thinking that the letter from her mom may help her grow up a bit and maybe stop being so destructive.
I totally did NOT see Peggy's pregnancy coming. Teddy is really having all his shit hit the fan at once, isn't he? I hope they can finalize this dumb Cumberland drama early on next season, but I have a feeling it'll drag out forever and Teddy will narrowly escape jail.
I suspect the Cumberland thing is going to end with Lamar being the scapegoat (Tandy is pissed at him, so are teddy and Peggy)
I also agree that Rayna is the one that's going to be hurt in the wreck and Deacon is going to feel insanely guilty which may or may not make him get back to AA. I really hope they don't get into a whole round of him being an active alcoholic because I'd love to see them trying to figure out how to handle their relationship, Maddy, etc. and make it work.
I agree Juliette seemed to have some real growth at the end of the episode which I'd love to see continue into next season.

That was a good finale. I knew there was going to be a wreck too as soon as I saw them in the car. I think your guys are right about Rayna being the one more seriously injured. I'm sure this will be the catalyst that brings Deacon out of his downward spiral and forgive Rayna and try to make it work.
I think they are going to pin everything on Lamar too. I really don't like Teddy, but I don' think they would send his character to jail. I wasn't expecting Peggy to be pregnant. She's kind of crazy though so I wonder if she just said that to try and get back with Teddy.
I'm glad Juliette found out what her mother did for her. I hope this makes her grow up too. I'm kind of hoping that Juliette gets together with Avery. I think they would make a good couple.

I thought the same thing last night when he showed up to the funeral. I feel like he learned a lesson with losing Scarlett and he will make a much better boyfriend the next time around. I would love to see Juliette grow from this and her and Avery fall in love.
Raynas accident was way too predictable and I'm already bored with that. Been there, done that on other shows. I think Maddie will hate Deacon for it and Teddy will find assurance in that, the fear of losing Maddie will subside. Really though- Deacon has proved that Rayna really did the right thing imo.
Totally agree with the Lamar thing. I see the sister collaborating with Teddy to "move up" and the two of them making sure Lamar takes the fall. I really want to hate Teddy but I just don't.
I saw the pregnancy coming weeks ago when she went missing and I knew she had signed on for season 2. I also saw the accident, but honestly that is why I love this show. it is such a soap opera, but the acting is so good.
I loved last night's episode. They made it a finale, but one that until the end wasn't a "finale". Sometimes I hate shows that have so much action going on that they forget about the characters. i loved that Nashville stayed true to their form.
There were so many win parts in this episode.. when Gunnar went to sit on Will's bed, Tandy getting "demoted" I just really liked it.
I agree Rayna will be the one hurt. Also on another board people are predicting that crazy Peggy will force Teddy into marrying her to keep quiet.

I love Teddy and I am not sure why. I loved his line from last week when Rayna went to his office about the restraining order and asked him what his deal was and he said "I took advice from your father and grew a pair" I loved it. Maybe it is the actor that makes me love him so much.

I agree Teddy is such an ass but I still like him. it reminds me of Cary Grant in Notorious, any other actor playing that part would be hated but because its Cary Grant playing the slimy/morally questionable character you end up pulling for the Guy.
I am so annoyed with Deacon. Sure, he feels like all this time was taken away from him and his daughter. So why not try to spend time with her instead of the bottle?

Because he's an alcoholic. Recovering or not his first knee jerk response to this kind of thing is going to be to get drunk/high instead of dealing with it. this is why recovery is so hard, the desire to turn back to drinking/using is strong and when something this shitty happens its hard to stay on the wagon. he got blindsided in a really awful way with someone he trusted having lied to him about a huge thing, I actually thought the show did a good job of showing realistically the likely fall out given his history. And giving us a glimpse of what it must've been like back when he was drinking and using and she had to make decisions about her pregnancy.
i would've called BS of he had gotten mad but taken it in stride, especially since they had him admit to Coleman that he was tempted by Jolene's pulls a dnthat was before he had all this to deal with.
ETA: also its clear he views Coleman's telling Rayna to let him go back in the day as a betrayal as well. so when under different circumstances when he wanted to drink he would've called Coleman who would help him focus on his sobriety in this situation he couldn't wouldn't do that. So he feels betrayed by 2 of the people he trusts most and has no one he feels he can turn to.
I thought he way deacon was portrayed was very realistic.
I continue to want to slap Scarlett across the face. That last ditch diamond proposal made me roll my eyes--I hope she gets a little more self respect and ditches Gunnar.
I agree Deacon's falling off the wagon was very realistic - he just found out that everything he thought he knew for the past 13 years, was a lie, with the love of his life, Rayna, as the biggest liar of all. Coleman's telling Rayna to let him go - setting in motion the events of hiding Maddie's paternity and the Rayna/Teddy marriage is akin to another stab in Deacon's back.
Rayna was so, so wrong to do this to Deacon and lie about it and she would have gone on lying had Maddie had not conveniently found those paternity test results - even while reconciling with Deacon. Yes, he was an addict, but he deserved to know the truth, from the beginning and who knows - learning he was going to become a father may have been just the thing to snap him into sobriety.
I also agree Rayna will be the one more seriously injured and that Teddy will try to weasel his way back into her life now that he is going to be saddled to cray-cray Peggy for life. Although I like that Teddy finally stood up for himself for once.
I was really impressed with HP's Juliette - she really looked every inch the grieving, shattered daughter. Count me with those who'd like to see her with Avery - who I initially hated with the fire of a thousands suns - but who has grown as a man and grown on me in the process. I don't want a re-do with Scarlett. Avery and Juliet are a much better match.
I'm curious to see what happens with the Tandy/Lamar rivalry. Powers Boothe is a hoot to watch and my, my Tandy sure is jealous of Rayna.
As for Gunnar/Scarlett, I wanted them together and now that they are, I just don't like them together - I think it's Scarlett that is bugging. I'm so sick of her wide-eyed, chipmunk-cheeked schtick - every time she comes into a scene, I expect woodland creatures to appear. I seriously doubt they make it down the aisle.
When Juliette's old manager came back to hug her at the home, I thought that was so sweet. I love Scarlett, and as much as she plays the "i'm a little flower" mentality, I don't think she'll accept Gunnar's proposal. I hope she makes him earn it.
They're so sweet together, I want to see him earn it and a couple duets from the two of them. If that makes sense.
I do agree the portrayal of Deacon was realistic and well performed. I still am annoyed by it. Or maybe I am annoyed that we didn't get to see the convo between Deacon and Maddie.
Also, I am wondering how the drunken car wreck is going to effect Juliette. I could see her getting pissed at Deacon after everything she just went through with her mom.
I too really wanted Scarlett with Gunnar but the proposal was over the top.
Rayna was wrong to move forward with reconciling with Deacon and not telling him and should have told Teddy it was not up for debate when he demanded she not say anything.
however, I think 80% of why she did it was to keep Maddy from ending up like Juliette from the consequences of having a parent whose an alcoholic/drug addict. Which is why I think they had her and Juliette have that scene Rayna finally connected with Juliette on a personal level seeing what she had feared for herself and Mmaddy if she stayed with Deacon back in the day. She had no reason to believe he'd actually stay sober after his 5th rehab stint and she was desperate to protect her child. I Can't blame her because if he hadn't been sober the last 13 yrs I wouldn't blame her for it so I won't blame her just because she didn't know he would finally sober up. and honestly the last thing someone just entering sobriety needs is to be dealing with the stress of a newborn/little baby/impending parenthood. And getting sober because of a baby is a bad reason to do it because if you aren't doing it because you are sick and tired of the life you're leading you're a lot less likely to stay sober.
Also Rayna has daddy issues so this would've hit everyone of her buttons which would not have helped in her sorting through this decision.

This episode was awesome!
I feel like they really needed to show what Deacon is like when he was using so we could understand why Rayna made the decision she did when she found out she was pregnant. It was really scary and sad to watch. I agree with whoever speculated that they will both survive the wreck but that Rayna will be in worse shape than Deacon and he will have to deal with the consequences of that.
Peggy is crazy-cakes and will totally try to trap Teddy. I wouldn't be surprised if she's faking the pregnancy.
I hope that Scarlett says no - I love her and Gunnar together when things are going "right" but I think his proposal was just a cop out since he couldn't find any other way to apologize.
And I also think that they're setting up Avery and Juliette to get together. It seems kind of awkward and clunky right now in the plot, forced even. But I can see how they might be good for eachother.
