This poll brought to you by me most likely coming down with the flu (hoo-freaking-ray) and *craving* tortilla soup. Or miso soup. Or macaroni and cheese with bacon bits.
I'm totally with you on the mac and cheese. Sometimes I want chicken soup, other times tomato soup. But the one thing I absolutely must have when I am sick, although it's not food, is ginger ale. I must have it.
Seeing as how my mother can't cook, I don't really have any comfort food memories, ya know? My favorite homestyle dish is probably hash brown casserole. Just sit me down with a pan!! The only real comfort food memory I have is from high school, when I once made Tollhouse choc chip cookies in a 9x13 pan and ate most of the pan while watching chick flicks. Ahh, the days when we were all size 4s without trying! Yeah, I'd love to just sit down with a pan of those and eat however much I want.

Feel better!
Warm ginger ale!
My favorite comfort food is chilaquiles. They're made with whatever is on hand and are never the same each time you make them. (Well, maybe they are for people who follow a recipe and didn't grow up making them.) Love. Love. Love.
and you're not allowed to have the flu this weekend!
I know, I know! I'm freaking out. I'm chugging tea like it's my job, overdosing on vitamin c, and I'm backing out of swimming this evening so that I can sit/sleep on the couch. Rest is important, right? If it's not better tomorrow morning, I'm going to the doctor. It's probably just some 24-hour thing - I get those once or twice a year and it's been a LONG time since my last one.
...oh! & feel better! What a bummer for the long weekend! or you can always pretend you're not really sick & it's just a reaction to all the paint fumes you've been breathing! ;-)
mac and cheese is an all time fave. but there are lots that i will enjoy. that's the problem w/people like me that live to eat, rather than eat to live....
