We're slated to close Thursday. Final walkthrough Wednesday night. I still don't have the #s re: how much we have to have at closing. Of course I have a general idea but am waiting for the official # so as to go get the check from the bank.
Is this normal? Also - does the bank need any sort of "lead time" or can I just walk in there and they'll cut me a check? I'm so nervous something is going to be delayed...!
It's normal not to get the amount until the day before (or even the day of.) As long as your money is in a normal account (and not like in a CD or something) the bank should just make out a cashier's check to the title company.
Totally normal. I got an email an a phone call while standing in the bank to confirm the dollar amount.
As long as the funds are available in your account, you should be able to walk right in and get a cashiers check. You may get charged a few extra dollars. They take the funds directly from your account which is different than you writing a personal check.
You should just be able to walk in. I got ours at 4pm the day before our 11am closing. It's normal not to get the number until the last minute. For ours, they had us get the check for more than what was needed and then cut us a check on the spot for the amount we were over. Is that an option for you? They should at least be able to give you a figure within $1,000 I would think.
Our attorney pushed the bank, and we got our numbers today! I've picked up our bank check for Thursday, and have made sure enough $ is transferred into our checking account to cover the personal checks I'll have to write. Woo!
I ADORE my attorney, she's like my fairy godmother.
We close on Friday and got the total figure today. Since it's under $10K we can bring a cashier's check to closing the day-of - over $10K and they wanted the money wire transferred.
