Crate Covers

Has anyone made an end table to fit over a wire dog crate? In my case it would be a kitchen island as she is a giant breed and her crate is huge. Trying to figure out something to do with the crate so it isn't just taking up space when she is out of it, she likes to be in the kitchen. I found this example, it is for a small tablekregjig.ning.com/photo/end-table-dog-crate-cover I'd probably put more vents on the sides.

Am I crazy for even considering this?

I don't have a photo of it, but we have an Ikea desk that fits over B's crate. We use a crate that is really big for him but he doesn't mess in it, so I like him having the extra room. Personally I found it easier to do something like that, or altering an existing piece rather than build something from scratch.

Our kitchen is small so we just bouhgt wooden bed risers and put her crate under the kitchen table. Do you have enough cabinet space that you could make it part of the island and not loose prescious cabinet space? Would you working on top of the island disturb her/him?
