I am taking 1,000 mg once a day. The supplements made me burpy but other than that, I didn't notice anything. My Vit D levels were not super low though.
50,000 units! Holy cow. Like cuddlyevil, I take one 1000 ius a day. I have been taking it for almost five years and never really noticed any difference.
I took 50,000 units for three months as a booster. After that I've been good on 5,000 units. I didn't have any real side affects that I remember. I just felt a lot better when when my levels were up.
I was prescribed 5000 by my doc due to low levels (and by fussbucket prior to that), but I am certain I wasn't very consistent with it. I now only take it in the winter.
Fuss says that it is a huge mood lifter for her. I was on other mood lifters at the time, so can't contribute anything specifically to the D. Although TBH, I'm not sure any of it helped significantly.

When I got tested my level was a 2.0, my doctor actually laughed at me because he had never seen it so low. I hate the heat and I get sunburned in a hot second so... No vitamin d. It is a huge mood lifter for me and it boost my energy levels so much. You will start feeling better soon!
