insist on writing a 1,000 word post insulting the choices of their home's previous owner? Okay, so they don't like the tree themed tile in the MBA. Fine. Say it's not your style and you are going to update it to reflect your tastes and lifestyle and leave it at that. But is it necessary to make cracks about how what the previous owner chose makes you belt out the theme from The Lion King every time you get in the shower? They have said that they know the previous owners of their current house do read their blog which to me means they should keep those comments to themselves. How would they feel if the next owners of their current house blog about the Frankendoor kitchen cabinet? It's fine if it's a private joke at home between the two of them, but why go the extra mile and tell them to their face via the blog, knowing they read it? That's just immature and unprofessional IMO. Sometimes I think they just like to hear themselves talk. And talk and talk and talk.
I concur, you know if you can't say something nice you shouldn't say anything at all.
I also would like to add that I don't like those tiles, and think they will look dumb. I personally think they should have done colored glass, and was totally expecting that to be what they picked, but alas they picked clear.
Meh, I get that its good blog fodder. And they weren't being mean really, those trees are the same as in the lion king. But I don't like what they are replacing it with, it looked awful with her just holding it up. Maybe itll look different after they do it though...
I was definitely shocked those were the tiles they were going with. I thought it was going to be a, "we thought these were the right ones then brought them home and realized they were all off so we got something else"
They need to do an abridged version of their "how to" posts and then maybe you can click a separate post if you want to find out every.single.detail. Yesterday's porch post was painful.
I think Susie made a similar point when we were discussing what makes a good/bad blog. I completely agree.
Yep, and this is a great example of what I meant. Regardless of who feels how about their opinion, listening to somebody drone on about their opinions is banal, and not helpful or productive. Either I'm inspired by the pictures of the change or I'm not, and if I am, I just want to see how you did it.
Plus there's the whole considering your audience thing, and the feelings that could be hurt.
I actually kinda like the original tile in there. Yes it's a pattern, but it's all so neutral that I kinda like it especially with how well it blends with the plain tile and the gray walls.
Glass tile is way too popular for me. If I were to add it now, I feel like I would be behind on a trend and playing catch up. I will wait to reserve judgment until the final reveal, but I'm not sure how it's going to blend with what they've already got in there.
IMO those don't look like African savannah trees at all, but I've never been to Africa. ;-)

Eh, I just opened their post expecting to read a rant about the tree tile, but out of the 1,000 word post only a few sentences were really bashing the old tiles.
I do agree, though, that their posts are too wordy and I am not a fan of their choice or replacement tile. The style of the glass subway tile just doesn't seem to mesh with the style of the stone tiles.
Has anyone else noticed they have had TONS of typos lately, too? It seems they are rushing things more and more. They used to be pretty good about editing their posts but now they're getting a little sloppy. Maybe b/c the posts are getting SOOOOOO long.
Right? They are actually really innefficent with their editing, it really bothers me that they think they know enough to tut it. I almost left a comment, but came here instead hah.

Seriously irritating. And no use leaving a comment for them since they moderate anything they deem to be snarky or inappropriate. I questioned them once or twice before on things and they won't publish my comments.
The one thing I really wonder when I look at the photos they post is just how good that stuff actually looks in real life. From a distance, the kitchen doesn't look that bad. Up close, I bet those cobbled together doors look awful. And those painted craigslist dining room chairs look like crap in the pictures they've shared, so I bet they look even worse in person.
As far as the tiles go, I didn't like the tree tiles, and I don't like the replacement tiles either. It seems like they went to an awful lot of effort to "correct" something when it would have been smarter to just wait and redo all of the tile at once.

Mostly agreed. I thought the tree tiles were fun, but I definitely agree about them putting in a lot of effort for something that just won't be worth it. The tile they picked is really nice, but it does not coordinate with the current tile. They really should have just saved their pennies.
