Have you heard about Lentil? He's a French Bulldog puppy in Philadelphia, born with a cleft palate:
He's being fostered by an acquaintance of mine. She owns an awesome pet supply boutique, runs a thrift store for pets, and runs her own pet rescue (though Lentil is fostered through French Bulldog Rescue Network).
Thousands have been donated to help with the cost of his surgery (which he had yesterday), and with his foster mom, he's raising awareness of the same issue in human children.
A surgeon from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia even assisted during his surgery.
It went well, he's recovering, and was even able to eat out of a bowl tonight (previously he had to be tube-fed, and was constantly at risk of aspirating food into his lungs).
RHB, you are I are on the same wavelength. I was totally thinking about posting about Lentil.
I'm slightly obsessed with him, even since I found out about LentilFest a month or so ago where they were raising money for French Bulldog Rescue Foundation and a few other things.
I think yesterday my husband told me he had gotten his surgery and I starting singing, "Lentil, the French Bulldog..." and my husband said, "he has a song?" and I said, "no, I just made that song up." See? Obsessed.

Did you see the pic of him and his real (dog) mother? The breeder was giving her up, and Lentil's foster mom got her spayed and placed with an adoptive family.

No! *goes to check*
I did see he had a sister named Edamame who didn't make it.
And I kind of just told my husband, "ZOMG a regular on my politics board KNOWS LENTIL'S FOSTER MOM."

Just kind of. It's more of "I know her, she doesn't really 'know' me" thing. She's really awesome about promoting the adoptable animal control (high kill) shelter dogs at her store, and she had a deal with our dog trainer to let us have an obedience class outside her store a couple of summers ago.
She also let me have a cat carrier for free back when I was broke and walking dogs for $$, and found a stray kitty with burns on its stomach so I could transport him to a vet.
I think I've established through my obsessive FB liking of pretty much every pic his mom posts that I'm juuuuust a bit in love with mister Lentil Bean In fact, I even got my sister on the bandwagon (she and I go back and forth introducing one or the other to various pittie and/or rescue dog pages). He is freaking adorable and I love him.

Speaking of pittie related pages, do you follow Sarge Wolf-Stringer? I know I posted about him on the old board.
