I feel like I have hair and makeup crap all over my counter. How do you organize your stuff? Do you put stuff back in drawers after you're done using it (because that's not going to happen)? I need something to hold my hairdryer, brush(es) and makeup.
I put stuff I use everyday (or often) in it- brushes, eyeliner, lip tent/stick, blush, primer ect... I keep my palettes in the draw with other stuff I don't use that often.
I have a storage rack that has three shelves too. It's got a lot of Birchbox boxes holding stuff on it.
I have my brushes in glass holders like Swizzle posted, that helps a TON.
I have flat organizers in my linen closet for my makeup, but stuff inevitably gets left out - I just try to take a few minutes to put it away. I thought about doing something like this, but I'm not sure how I feel about my makeup being displayed as wall art:) laurathoughts81.blogspot.com/2011/03/make-up-magnet-board.html
I have a decorative metal square container that holds stuff I use every day - toner, comb, cotton squares, toothpaste, etc., it stays out on the counter.
Hair stuff is in one shower caddy type basket that goes under the sink - I pull it out, use what I need, and it all goes back in the caddy and under the sink. I haven't solved the hot tool issue - my curling iron or flat iron stay out all day if I use them because they're too hot to put away.
I saw Swizzle post those Ikea spice racks on Pinterest, and I'm totally stealing that - I think it's a great idea to get things off the counter, but still easily within reach.
I don't put my makeup on in the bathroom. We have skylights in the bedroom, so I put my makeup on in front of my closet door - as there's a full length mirror there.
My makeup and toiletries are all held in train cases and a basket, on shelves.
Do you put stuff back in drawers after you're done using it (because that's not going to happen)?
Yes. I have little trays in my makeup drawer that I take out one at a time. The first holds primer, tinted moisturizer, foundation, concealer, and powder. After I use whatever I'm going to use from there, I put it back and take out the tray that holds eyeshadow, blush, eyeliner, and mascara. Maybe that would make it easier for you to clean up afterward, because you can literally put each item down into the tray where it belongs, then you only have one thing to put back in the drawer rather than several. I can't stand to have products out on the counter, so that's my motivation. The only thing I have out are glass jars for q-tips and cotton balls, and a Kleenex box. The rest is in drawers or the mirror cabinet.
i have a bookcase in my bathroom. the bottom 3 shelves have baskets - 1 for hairdryer/curling iron/flat iron, 1 for lotions/nail polish remover, 1 for hair products/brushes
another shelf has this - the one in the middle - and hold my make up. each drawer is labeled with the item
These are the kinds of trays I use. Two of the square ones, and one long narrow one for brushes. I own more makeup than fits in those containers, but I only keep what I'm using right then. I have three small eyeshadow palettes I choose from each day, two mascaras, and two concealers, otherwise just one of everything else.
ETA: Oops, that didn't work. I was trying to copy Kara's photo of the clear plastic trays.
