I was at the gym today and flicking through one of those gossipy mags and there was a whole section on celebs who look amazing in bikinis, including a bunch of "hot mom" pics. Also information about how they "do it"
Things like - "I mostly eat fruit and vegetables" and "in summer I eat salads, in winter I eat soups"
It annoyed me. Firstly I would not want to live like this. Yawn fest. I like food. Secondly do they not get hungry? Is there a certain point of amazing ab-ness where you simply don't get hungry any more despite only eating fruit and vegetables? Or are they fighting through hunger all day every day?
And, finally most annoyingly what kind of message is this to real people who are moms? there was one picture of gisele carrying a wee baby maybe a few months old and she was wearing a bikini and looked ridiculously good. It's so unattainable and unrealistic and not fair to women.
I just don't get how their bellies are so smooth and ab-y and non-i carried a baby in here for nine months looking.
off soap box.
I rarely read gossip magazines so I forgot how terrible they are.
Aren't pretty much all of those photos air-brushed and photo-shopped? I don't read them often either but figure many of them aren't quite that perfect IRL.
That said, I would be more careful about what I ate if it were my livelihood. I'm glad I don't have to be paranoid about stretch marks ruining my future career or say no to chocolate.

I don't think so because they aren't staged photos like in a shoot, they are just pics of them on the beach?
it is true, if it were my job I guess it would be more important to get down in weight within only weeks of giving birth. It would just be so not fun though.
I fully believe a lot of them get tummy tucks after giving birth. Being skinny doesn't mean the stretched out skin goes away. I saw a picture of Tori Spelling in a bikini after 4 kids and her belly skin looked tight. Nu-uh.
It annoys me too. But if it is their job to look good, and I think because they have the money to hire a personal chef and a personal trainer then they should look like that or at least be in shape. At least they did not attribute the weight loss to bfeeding because that really gets me riled up.
Well, on one hand I hate them and on the other hand it is their job to look like that, and I am REALLY glad it isn't my job. That would suck!
Last week DH and I did a juice cleanse and at the end of it I looked great - all my water weight was gone, my abs looked cut! I told DH that now I understand why celebrities look so good - they do crap like that all the time! Now, would I want to live that was and often be juice cleansing, working with my trainer, never eating past 5 pm, whatever ? Nope. But it made me feel kind of better to see how it works. If I'm ever going to be photographer for a national publication in a bathing suit I'm doing another cleanse!
Their diets are also unrealistic. Seriously, who eats just soup all winter? If that's what it takes to be thin, then forget it. If they were honest and said, "I try to make sure I eat soup at least 3 times a week, and watch what I eat the rest of the time," I'd be more likely to believe their stories. But it's so exclusive and restrictive, it's impossible to believe. I don't know if they're doing it to make themselves look better for having such strict diets, or if they know no one will believe they look that good on a normal healthy diet without surgical assistance or at the very least a hardcore personal trainer.

I agree that it would be more of a motivation if my livelihood depended on being thin and looking good in a bikini.
I also think that they can afford the best personal trainers and personal chefs and personal assistants that do all their grocery shopping so they don't end up with an impulse buy of chocolate or donuts because they tell this person not to buy the junk food.
I wanted to say something about them having good genes. Like the beautiful celebrity gene is also the look great 10 minutes after having a baby gene. But that doesn't sound very plausible.

They have a lot more motivation than I do. And money. And childcare. And time. And resources.
I think I could look super hot given all the above. I know I would, actually. But I live if real life where meals are grabbed on the go, chronic injuries exist, and I enjoy spending my free time with friends and family when I'm not working.
I read somewhere that one celeb wore a super tight corset for months to get her body back. No thanks.
I read that too. I think it was Jessica Alba. I'd rather wear Spanx when I need them instead.
But yeah, I hate reading the gossip magazines. I just like food too much to do that. I know some people are naturally thin and go straight back to it once they have their baby (like my BFF who had twins and no stretch marks and lost the weight in like a month. Grrr.) But most people don't have the time for it.
