We really like Nature's Domain (Costco brand) because it's the same formula as Taste of the Wild, but cheaper. Some people are concerned about recalls with those brands, though. We just try to keep an eye on it. Both ND and TOTW are grain free and all life stages foods so they'd be fine for an older dog.
Hi redheadbaker, I didn't find specifics on the best foods for mature dogs. Do you have any recommendations/board favorites?
Ditto Sparrow. "Senior" dog foods are kind of a gimmick. The ones that claim to have chondroitin and glucosamine don't have enough in the food to really make a difference. You're better off feeding an all-life-stages food and adding a chondroitin and glucosamine supplement.
