MH's best friend is a website designer who recently competed a website. He has asked H and I to critique it and also to see if we can get anyone else to help out. The site is 2petlovers.net. If you have any input as far as user experience, ease of navigation, and things that you might like to see on the site you can post it here and I'll add it to my critique or PM and I'll give you the email to send it to. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
I think the top ad/bar is too big. You can't see any of the articles until you start scrolling down, which is a peeve of mine. I like the colors and that's fairly simple looking and not in your face. I'd also put the Facebook part below the featured post/top posts/top comments. Overall though, I like it and would frequent it. I definitely read about the divorce, haha.

Generally speaking it passed all my tests. The only pet peeve it triggered was the pop up thing that it shows you the first time that you visit. Those go on my bad list 100% of the time.

Also, who's their target? I read the turtle story the other day, on a regular news site. Are they just rechanneling animal stories from a google alert? Are they offering new content? Is it supposed to generate lots of clicks like petfinder?

Is this a blog?
ETA: That is the feel I am getting from it. That it is more like a blog than a normal website. I think the articles need to stand out more. Maybe that's my issue.
