Hello Ladies. I'm having some distressing GI symptoms and I'm wondering if they are due to IBS or an ulcer. Here's a question- Did anyone have horrible heartburn with their IBS? (I should say that I have a bloodwork and a stool sample scheduled for tomorrow, but I'd like some insight from you all. Yes, I will be following up with my doctor after the results are in.)
If you test positive for Hpylori (blood test) I think there is higher chance of ulcer but cannot fully dx unless they do an endoscopy (they can see some with the upper GI barium swallow though). I'm assuming they are looking for that? I have really bad reflux issues for years and am on Prilosec because of it. They can also do an Upper GI study and quickly see this and just go up your nose and down your throat to look if there is damage. I'm awaiting a colonscopy and endoscopy (doctor thinks I just have IBS and possibly some gatritis) on top of the shitty reflux stuff. Yes to answer your question, my whole digestive system is a shitstorm and if I stopped Prilosec I'd be puking in my mouth with the burning reflux coming up

I just had blood work done today to test for a bunch of things, including h. pylori. They are waiting to see how that comes back before scheduling anything more invasive. Mine is not reflux; I never get the "acid up my throat" feeling. Mine is pain, especially in the area of the sternum and lower. It gets so bad I have to chug baking soda and water just to function. (Which is bad long term, I know)
I have had every test under the sun and there's no specific reason for my reflux/heartburn. Maybe it's related to my ulcerative colitis, but that's in my intestines, so I don't really understand. I have been popping two Zantac 150 per day for the last 7 years or so. If I miss a dose, I feel it almost immediately. I try to stay away from eating anything too acidic regularly. Orange juice is especially deadly for me, but tomatoes aren't so great, either.
