How did you let your coworkers know you were pregnant? And when?
I have already told my manager, which was no big deal because she and I have always been friendly and she knew all about my IF situation. So during one of my reviews, I told her, and she knows it's twins too. And I've told 2 other coworkers that I am friendly with, and they have not told anyone. But I work on a team of about 20 people so I'm thinking I should announce it to them all at once? We have meetings every morning so I'm thinking that when I'm 13 weeks, which is after my next appointment, I'll say it in the meeting. I'll be nervous though, I'm sure my face will turn bright red.
So I was curious how you all handled it. Did you just tell people one-on-one or did you work with a group who you told all at once?
I was sick at work one Saturday night when I realized I remembered the last time I felt like that and I told the 2 guys I was working with "I hope tomorrow I'm either definitely pregnant or I feel better". The next time I saw them I told them I got both things I hoped for. By the next week everybody knew. I didnt realize I'm even around there enough anymore to be a source of chatter among the masses, but good news travels fast. I wouldn't be surprised if more people than you think know. Still an announcement at a weekly meeting sounds like a fun snd nice way to make it official. Good luck!
I had told my boss around 9 weeks because I had to go to the OB during work hours due to heavy bleeding. He told everyone what was happening, which honestly pissed me off, but anyway ...
I'm not sure how I would have "announced", I think it would have felt awkward, I think. In hindsight, I guess people spreading the word wouldn't have been bad, I just would have preferred it "spread" when I was further along, and not while I was at the doctor wondering if I was having another m/c.
Sara- you're right, I do suspect that maybe more people know because I didn't really write the whole story-- so yeah, I told just my manager and my 2 coworker friends and I really am positive that those 3 haven't spread it around because they're all extremely trusthworthy people.
However-- so freaking weird but my old supervisor found out not at all from me, but from (get ready) her daughter's best friend's husband who is distant friends with MH! Jason told this friend on the phone one day and from there it got to my old supervisor, long story. So the supervisor went to another one of my coworkers and told HER! Instead of coming yo me. And then CW #2 came to me (in private at least)and said she heard I was pg and congrtas. Then she had the nerve to say she wouldn't tell me who told her! So then she finally did, and I spoke to the supervisor who told me the story. Kinda effed up, right? So I would not be surprised if the supervisor and CW #2 have spread it around. I also had another lady, CW #3 say to me very pointedly one day "Lauren, you are looking different lately! Just so pretty and kind of.... just different!" to which I was just like "thanks!"
I'm happy that neither CW #2 nor #3 work with me anymore. Just last week my team relacated to our Tampa office and they chose not to commute
i just told people at 12 weeks. no big announcement.
Meaning you would tell if someone asked you what was new? Or did you bring it up first.
I just casually told everyone. Then other people (like at the nail place LOL) I didn't say anything until I couldn't hide it. Christine was so mad hahaha

The last time I was there, I ended up telling Ellie during my manicure. I'm not sure whether she told Christine, eek! I don't bring it up on my own but if someone asks if I have kids, I just can't hold it in!

When I was pregnant with Macy I told my boss at about 10 weeks because at that point I had already had three appointments over a month span. And to go to the doctor where I live is like a half day event since I live so far from civilization. After that I mentioned I was pregnant to one of my coworkers in my office and she immediately ran out to the reception area and said "OH MY GOD, Kathy's pregnant!". Ha. I knew she had a a big mouth so it kinda took the pressure off me to make a big announcement. Still, I felt embarrassed for a bit when everyone came into my office to congratulate me but I did feel better the news was out after the initial reactions.
Kathy- yeah, it would be nice not to have to make the announcement in front of everyone. I had a similar experience as you did when I got engaged a million years ago. I told the coworker who sat next to me and she literally screamed which made all the other women come running to see my ring. I remember I got so embarrassed! (even though it was nice of them)
I told my boss last week. Due to the nature of my job, I had to let her know so I don't get to handle patients with shingles or are super heavy, be around x-ray machines. I also told my BFF who works with me. Other than that, I have no plans of really announcing. If people start asking me about my growing belly, then that's when they'll get confirmation.

Is your belly growing yet? I'm very obviously pregnant looking. It's crazy how much faster it is this time. I look like I did when I was 10 weeks further.

My bloat is so bad I look like I have a beer gut. My co-workers can't tell yet coz I wear scrubs. And I don't like to wear my casual clothes anymore, esp. pants coz I feel Iike I can't breathe in them
Oh the bloat. Yuck! I am done with that phase and the whole first tri and am ecstatic to say I will never go through that again. Now I'm on to full panel pants and strangers telling me "good luck". Lol
I work for MH and we told his partner and wife pretty early, they knew about our IF. etc. I told the managers at work at 13 weeks. I send them daily reports and I attached an u/s pic, they passed along the news from there.
I told a close friend of mine and I think the boss' wife must have found out, because later that day the office manager at other location called the front end manager (not me) asking if I was pregnant (like it is her business.)
Anyways, the rumors spread life wild fire. It was basically a nightmare. I think the boss' wife disapproved of our childten out of wedlock thing and she kind of made me miserable and was condescending to me the rest of my time there.

Thanks for the responses. I think maybe I'll just put it on FB and let that take care if it, lol. Aftet my next OB appt on june 21. I'm FB friends with enough coworkers that doing that should take care if it!
