went on a trip to KY. it was a 16 hour day of horror.
Early first flight, but it was delayed... and so was the second one. 2 hours driving through mountains... but I got lost so it ended up being 3 hours. 3.5 hours on site and then another 2.5 hour drive back through mountains to airport hotel. I didn't even eat lunch and the area I was in was infested with spiders... as in they actually bit me a few times.
In short it was awful.
I get a call yesterday about the fact that I forgot to get a bit of very important information. This was NOT clear to me on the checklist I was sent with... but at the end of the day - I feel I should have been more intuitive and knew I needed it.
I want so badly to cry foul and make a bunch of excuses... instead - I apologized and asked how I can help make it right... on my own time. ugh.
You handled it like a champion and it couldn't have been prevented if it wasn't on the checklist. I would feel the same way you do, but even if you feel responsible that doesn't mean you could have prevented it. Can you have a local contractor take the measurement for you (or whatever it is you need)?
UGHHHH, they yelled at you? I don't think that is appropriate. You obviously understand the mistake you made. Why try to make you feel like snit.
And even if you understand your job, in a situation like that people forget things if they are not written. That's not just you, that's everyone. I am sorry.
