Teal, mauve, and gray (sometimes black) with shiny gold accents. Brush strokes and paint splatters.
OMG this is hilarious. my parents living room looked scarily identical to this up until about 4 years ago when my sis and I gave it a complete makeover!
Ick! A lot of this stuff seems like 80's to me, but maybe people still had it around in the 90's. The 90's were not a good decade for decor, music, or fashion. Of course that won't stop it from all coming back into style again one day!
I'm thinking massively oversized furniture - like armoires, faux painting, sage green, southwest and celestial themes, vintage posters, curio coffee tables, a resurgance of Mission style. Also, furniture with limewash and wormholes. Everybody I knew in the early 90's had the Broyhill Fontana furniture in their homes. Also, Shabby Chic started to catch on during the 90's. Talk about a trend that endures!
I was at the salon yesterday and People had a feature on what JTT is up to now. I turned the magazine to the girl and was like, "OMG! Do you remember him? He was so hot!" and she was like, "Who? Oh, yeah, maybe I remember him. Was he in that handyman show? I think I've seen it on Nick at Night." Grumble, 18 year olds, grumble grumble.
Our house was built in the mid 90s. Forest green carpet, brass, forest green walls, and wallpaper borders galooooore! White tile with dark gray grout, too.

1) ktzmoh, I was SO CLOSE to making my H buy me one of those at a garage sale. For $40. But I said "no, I have a computer, I do not need it." But I wanted it. Bad. My HS had that blue color. SOOOOO cool.
2) My dad's kitchen STILL has cows and sunflowers. He does not decorate and it's how my mom decorated it. It's a timewarp, because there is still a calendar from 2006 up too.
3) I remember these as a 1970s-to-1990s hold out in my grandma's kitchen - I saw some at a thrift store and almost bought them because they made me laugh:
Also:
I had accent walls before accent walls were cool. Two bright blue, two sky blue. With glow-and-the-dark stars on the ceiling and then these on the walls:
I plead guilty to possessing an abundance of floral patterned items and celestial themed knick knacks. I even recall purchasing a perfume or eyeshadow palette named "Sun Moon Stars." #shameface
