Really? It's not too hard with a sharp knife. I cut off the ends, and the around the perimeter of the base, and then verrrry carefully slice off the top (always cutting away from myself).
And then you get the satisfaction of cutting nearly all of it into perfect cubes.
I cut it in half length-wise, slice it into semicircles, cut off the rind, and then cut into cubes.
I used to do it that way. I swear this is faster!
Oh, and the above is only half of a watermelon. I rarely break down a whole one at once. I save the other half with the rind still on in the crisper for later.
Is that good or bad? My ILs bought us a set as a wedding gift.
They're fine knives you just have to keep them sharpened. The one I have is kind of lame. It doesn't cut through tomatoes like it said. Again, that's all about keeping it sharp.
The knives supposedly stay sharp for years before needing a good sharpening. I call bullshit. The good thing is that they'll do factory sharpening for free forevers (just pay s&h).
