Recently I've been hunting for a full-time job, not just for more $$ but also taking into consideration I'll want health insurance once I'm divorced. My plan was to keep working an additional 10-15 hours at week at my current retail position nights/weekends.
Finding FT work is proving more difficult than I anticipated. One of my managers at the retail store just put in her 2 weeks and I've been offered her position.
Pros: I'd be getting a pay raise, significantly more hours than I am now and I'd be able to add "management experience" to a less than spectacular resume. This would start in a week so the perks will kick in soon.
Cons: It's still considered PT, so no benefits. While I would be getting more hours, I don't think it will be enough to only have 1 job.
I feel like taking the promotion at my current job would really help me out a lot now, but I'd feel really shitty if I took it, went through all the training and then ended up quitting to take a FT job in a few months. We've got a small staff and we're all friends so I don't want to fuck anyone over but I also want to look out for myself, you know?

There is no shame or guilt in taking the job and continuing to look for something FT with benefits. Seriously. Take the job right now for more money, and keep looking. GL!

Take it. You may feel shitty for taking it and then moving on shortly, but how shitty are you going to feel if you DON'T take it and then you don't get anything else right now?

I would definitely take it so that you have the extra income in case it takes longer than you expect to find a position with benefits. The management experience can only help you find something better!

I'd take it. Is there any reason you don't think you could get a private individual health insurance policy? For a young, generally healthy adult they are usually pretty reasonably priced.
