What did you use for favors at your wedding? What gifts did you get for your wedding party? How much should I be spending on those gifts?
ETA: I thought about making jelly/jam for wedding favors, but FI doesn't like that idea. My late grandmother used to make some ALL the time. It would be a way to remember her and I think it kind of goes with a vintage theme. But, I don't know if I will even have time to make it.
For the guest favors we did pink mints in a box that said thank you, lol. So original. For the wedding party: groomsmen got beer mugs with their names engraved in them and some alcohol to go with them and the girls got necklaces, bracelets, and earing sets.
We rented a photobooth so I guess the strips that they got to take home were the favors.
We had two bridesmaids and two groomsmen and we spent about $100 on each of them. I got each of the girls a different tote bag and a $50 Visa card and then a few other small things (cookbook and apron for one, bookplate stickers for the other, and little things like lip balm). MH got the guys Oakley sunglasses.
Spend what you can afford. And jam sounds great for a favor.
We did sand in corked bottles with stones from a local beach that can be polished to a high shine (they call them "diamonds" once polished).
For our bridesmaids we did custom totes filled with all kinds of beach essentials, as well as earrings for the wedding (MOHs also got necklaces), and the groomsmen got engraved beer mugs and their favorite six pack of craft beer or bottle of liquor.
Wedding: little box of gourmet chocolates. Looking back, I think wedding favors are kind of dumb, and wouldn't think twice if I went to a wedding where there weren't any favors. Heck, I am sure I HAVE been to weddings without them, and didn't even notice.
Bridesmaids: bought them their jewelry, and did one other thing, but honestly don't remember what. I feel like it was something engraved, but don't know for sure. I was 25 and stupid about all things wedding.
Groomsmen: set of 4 monogrammed Pilsner glasses (their names, obviously, not ours. lol)

no favors I don't remember the wedding party. There was only a MOH and BM. I think there was a Yankee candle in the mix. We got my parents the biggest gift, since they did the most work.
Our favors were Jones Soda with our photos on them.
Groomsmen got DVD-recorder-players and a silk tie.
Bridesmaids got a Tiffany necklace, a personalized messenger bag, and a spa gift certificate. We also paid for hair and makeup and $100 toward cost of dress.
I gave one of my bridesmaids a Barnes and Noble gift certificate, and the other a gift certificate to her favorite restaurant. And we paid for their dresses.
My husband took care of the groomsman gifts, and I can't remember what he picked out.
We didn't do favors. But we did OOT bags for those who came from OOT (so 90% of our guest list).
For the bridesmaids, I bought them a necklace and earrings they could wear the day of and did a bag of girly products. H got the groomsmen nice knives with their initials engraved on the blade and cufflinks.

favors: diddy riese cookies groomsmen: suits & tailoring, ties & pocket squares for day of, personalized leathermen, i think. bridesmaids: dress, pro hair & makeup for day of, hotel room for the night before, a tshirt (different ones i picked out for each of them), an uglidoll keychain
Instead of favors, we got our guests admission to the zoo where we work (and where the ceremony was) to fill time between our afternoon ceremony and evening reception. Plus, it was really nice for our out of town friends and family to see where we worked.
For wedding party gifts, we got the bridesmaids hand-painted wine glasses with personalized designs and we got the groomsmen engraved cigar cutters and lighters.
For the wedding party, we had two each. For my bridesmaid, I paid for her dress and my moh I gave her a purse she had been wanting. I let them pick whatever they wanted. H gave his guys gift cards to get liquor.
For the favours we had personalized Hershey kisses, tic tacs, and candy apples. They were a huge hit!
favors: wine stoppers, since we got married at a vineyard. they were inexpensive and technically useful.
i got my bridesmaids each a silver compact with their monogram on it, and then for my sil a silver cuff (her style) and for my bff some pretty blue stone stud earrings (her style). i didn't expect them to wear them for the wedding. neither got her hair done anyway because at the time they both had short hair, but i paid for mani/pedis too. no clue what the husband did for his groomsmen.
Our "favor" was a candy bar we had out for the entire evening with lots of yummy goodies. Everyone loved it, esp. the kids.
For WP gifts: my BMs all LOVED wine, so I got them each a bottle of their favorite wine and a pretty/decorative wine glass. H got the GMs small bottles of their favorite liquor and a really nice (not monogrammed) flask since they all like alcohol.
