I hate the D in DH, DD, etc. but I have to put "DBF" to distinguish from "best friend." However, I always think "DB Sweeney"
There was a lot of acronym-clash on the book board, since common titles all got abbreviated. A lot of them overlapped with computer terms, which led to some weird results in my head!

I think follow up and further update are both correct, whereas eff you isn't...

I also that f/u was follow-up, but that meaning is about the same. However, I also often read it as "eff you"
I used to lurk on TIP, and STBXH took me a loooong time to figure out. Somehow I would try to make "son of a b!tch ex-h" fit, but that didn't really work. It wasn't until I went to respond on another board (I think here, actually, when LOB was going through her FB-hacking problem) and wrote "your soon-to-be xh" that I realized what it meant. Also on the TIP and SO boards, the "FWB" took me a long time. I thought it was "f**k with buddy". Sort of amounts to the same thing in most cases, but I had the acronym wrong :-) (it's friend with benefits, btw, for anyone who doesn't know).

For a long time, I thought "AW" was just a word. Like "aaaawwwwww my dog is so cute" or "aaaaawwwwww [yeeeeah] I got the job". I still say it way in my head.
Just today, someone posted a picture on FB of something she wanted to sell, adding "NIP." at first, I wondered why anyone would care that she was nursing in public while posting on FB, and then I realized she meant it was new in package.

I was so disappointed when I learned what it meant.

I really disliked the acronym-ed titles. I never could figure out what book they were talking about.
I try hard not to use too many acronyms -- I think the only one I use regularly is DH, and at that, I don't like the D either.
I always thought s/o was for spin-off. I think it actually is supposed to stand for speaking of, but spin-off works just as well, and sometimes better.
Not long ago, I used "FTW" with a friend who hadn't seen it before. She didn't type anything for a bit and then she said, "that doesn't mean 'fuck the what', does it?"

What does it meeeeeeeean!? I've been wondering about that for a while.
