I like the new tile, although I would never make the same choices they do.
What I don't understand is the paint color with the art. I love the art. But the olive-y color of the wall does NOT go with the turquoise in the art. However, I'd ditch that wall color LONG before I'd ditch the art.
I don't like it, and not just b/c it's them, but b/c the tile doesn't go. Why didn't they pick a color that was already in the existing tile? This just looks weird like they got it on clearance.
And anyone else notice their weird bathtub spot? Never seen that before.

I agree, it just doesn't match. I didn't love or hate the old tile, but at least it matched. Oh well, not my bathroom.
I also agree that this whole bathroom is weird. It's almost like the previous owners turned a closet into a bathroom or something.
I'm not convinced it really goes together. I think they did a fine job with the removal and installation. But I'm not really convinced. Maybe the gray paint is now out of place or something.
I love the tile they chose, but it just doesn't "go" with the tile that was already there. It needs a different paint color or... something. I don't know what to do to make it work together, but all of the elements just don't go together.

What bothers me most is the size of the tile. The tree tiles were much wider/longer. The new tiles is broken up more, and looks busy and off scale. I think if they had longer tiles in the same finish it would look OK. Plus they didn't center it under the art. The tile to the left (in the pic) is a whole tile and the one to the right is cut off.
eeek that tile looks awful! I am guessing it's YHL's house. Oh gosh, why did they choose brown tiles and green as an accent? They are different sheens, different textures, different styles ....wtf??? Makes no sense and looks terrible.
I don't like it either. The new glass tile just doesn't go with the existing tile. It's not a question of color to me, as much as style and texture. Glass tile looks too shiny, too contemporary for the rest of the bathroom.
This is one of those things that they call an "upgrade," but it's not. You can make a change without it being an "upgrade." "Upgrade" means you're choosing a higher grade finish/material. Because of the mismatch I almost see it as a downgrade.
OTOH, I sympathize with not liking a previous owner's accent tile and making a switch just to suit your tastes better. We did something similar in our kitchen. I didn't like the flowered accent tiles that were there when we bought the house:
so we chipped them out YHL style and replaced them, leaving behind the white tile to save $:
I'm probably as glad to have the flowers gone as they are to have the trees gone. Since it's my kitchen, that's great. But I realize others might not share the opinion, and I also realize our solution leaves a little to be desired, probably just like theirs.
I actually like the tile more than I thought I would. I think it compliments the white woodwork. It's not what I would have chosen, but I expected to like it a lot less.
I think it looks terrible. The color is wrong, the styles don't match... I probably would've gone with a neutral colored mosaic and gotten rid of all of the blue-green accents. or I just would've left the trees until I could do a complete tile overhaul. they weren't THAT bad.
This part really bugs me- "but then we discovered that the previous owners had left us some of the grout they had used in the basement. It’s “Antique White” colored, which wouldn’t be our first choice against sleek glass tiles (we’d probably go with pure white or soft gray), but in this instance it was more important to match the grout in the rest of the room, so we sucked it up and proceeded."
Um. It seems kinda important that your grout compliment the tiles, and since you knew the grout was antique white, wtf would you purposely choose a tile that doesn't look so hot with that?
