J's going in for an MRI this afternoon, he's in a lot of pain and can barely move his arm. His dr. is pretty sure it's a torn rotator cuff. That usually means surgery, right?

My mom has torn both of hers. Yes, to surgery. Lots of PT afterwards. He'll need to do the exercises on his own or he'll never get his range of motion back. The upside is that if he follows doctor's orders, he should be good as new eventually.

My boss actually tore his and he is persistent on NOT having surgery. He's been going to pt for probably a year at this point. Some days he'll say that PT was so painful he thinks surgery would have been less pain. But still, he wont have surgery on it. He can move it though, so I am not sure how torn it actually is.
