Homeland

There's a free preview of Showtime so DH and I have been watching Homeland.  We're in the middle of season 2.  I like it but I don't love it like Breaking Bad or Mad Men (or even GoT). 

Thoughts on Homeland?  I'm not sure I would pay for Showtime to keep watching.

We watch Homeland, GOT, and Breaking Bad. We like them all for different reasons. I think Claire Danes and Damien Lewis really make Homeland. Their characters are very complex. The end of season 2 of Homeland is really good I think. I could have done without the Dana/VP son storyline though - they put a damper on the season for me.

I like Homeland but I loved the Israeli show it is based on more. It is on HULU now and they call it Prisoners of War.

I really dislike the whole Clare Danes mental illness subplot. Like she can't just be smart, she has to be "crazy" too?

Thanks for the feedback all.  We're enjoying the show but agree that the VP kid storyline is a little annoying.  Reminds me of season 2 of Friday Night Lights.

Damper is an understatement.  I get it- they want to show how all of "this" is affecting her, her decisions, her anger, etc, as a teenager.  But GAWD.  Either she's just a bad actress, or the writers just aren't doing their job - but I so agree.  Dana just needs to go.

Both Brody kids can go. They are really not important at all to the show. I actually forget about the son since he is barely featured.

Yes! I would be pleased if Dana got sent off to boarding school or something. All of the angst and eye rolling and huffing and puffing was getting really annoying.

I also like the Israeli show more while my husband enjoys Homeland (and really won't watch POWs).

Both seasons 1 and 2 are on Hulu if you decide to start watching it, Simpson.

Season 2 was really good!

Aside from the daughter, another mild annoyance was how Carrie said AHH-BOOO Nazeeer. I'm not sure what accent that is, but it annoyed me (and I'm from Jersey!) - also made me think of Aladin.

I love this show. I think it is one of best shows on television, in all aspects. I watch Mad Men and think this blows Mad Men out of the water. I'm dying for the 3rd season to hurry up & get here!!

The daughter is annoying as hell though.

Yes, and every time I see it, I crack up! I'm glad she is universally annoying to everyone, maybe the writers/producers will take the hint and put her in the show less in season 3. Doesn't this chick have to go to college soon?!?!?! AH!

I really liked her in the first season. I thought she behaved fairly realistically for a tv teen, and she was a great actress. She played really well off Damien Lewis.
Then they Kim Bauer-ed her in the second season, and I was over it.
