PSA: expanded pet food recall

Just noticed this FB update from the pet store we used to go to:

Natura decided to VOLUNTARILY RECALL all of their dry food and treats again as a precautionary measure due to a detection of Salmonella. This recall covers all of the dry cat, dog and ferret food & treats we have on our shelves from Innova, California Natural and Evo. This recall does not impact any of their canned food.

Natura has closed down their plant and is working with the FDA to identify the contamination issue and improve their testing procedures so that they can correctly detect an issue themselves.

I haven't fed Evo for a while, but this is very disappointing. It used to be a great food, but a second recall so close to the first is kind of scary.

Yeah I agree. I keep some Innova on hand in case I have a problem (we feed raw now), but now I'm throwing it away.

Although in related news, I joined the class action suit against Natura a while ago and just got a check for $44 today!

We used to feed Evo and switched right when they were bought out and a lot of people thought we were over-reacting. Obviously not!

I just checked the bag of our Ca Nat and it is 4/15/14 and the link you posted said anything before 3/24/14. Should I just get rid of it to be safe? Or do you think it will be okay since it's exp date is after the recall date?

Oh shit. I feed California naturals wet food. Is that OK? I used to feed him wellness but they changed the formula and it aggravated his allergies.
