They told us we would get them on 6/22 and we waited very impatiently all day until 9pm when they were finally delivered in a van from the orphanage that was 2.5 hours from our hotel. It was 9pm....they were scared to death, didnt speak a bit of english, were hungry and had never seen a TV before. They cried and cried and H and I had to sit in front of the hotel door to keep them from trying to escape....good times! Nine years later, they are 12 and 13 YO typical 7th graders...attitude and all

Ok, its March 2004 and H and I decide that we'd rather just do a sure thing (adopt) than proceed with IF treatments. We went to a local agency that adopted from Russia and on March 17 we saw a video of Will (Damir) and he was a little dark skinned, very cross eyed 3.5 YO little guy who we fell in love with immediately. On April 24 we traveled to Russia for a week to meet him. The closest hotel was 2.5 hours away one way from the orphanage down these broken, potholed roads. We spent a week visiting every day and he was so shy and kept asking for his friend Roman (who is now Tim). So we played with both of them for the week and when it came time to leave we decided to adopt Tim as well. We went back on June 10th, went to court on June 12 and had a 10 day waiting period. While we were in court the judge said some crazy things -- all of which were not true like Will was retarded, had only one testicle, heart problems etc. Before you leave the country you have to have a medical exam and I will never forget the Russian doctor at the American embassy reaching up between Will's legs and saying in a thick accent "thees boy have TWO balls" LOL
Fast forward 9 years, Tim is a great basketball star, Will loves rugby and football and they are typical 7th grade boys...hormones and all. Are they still BFFs?? Somedays ha ha
ETA -- so 90 days from start to finish we decided to adopt and were home with two kids....10 months apart in age!
