My H works in telecomm and went downtown this morning to assess the phone networks, it's considered an essential service so he got through the road blocks. 12 hours later and he's still not home. I hope he got into the saddledome today and got pictures. Sounds like it's going to be a crazy week for him. I was also talking to a friend of mine who works downtown and he got an email saying the earliest he would be able to get back to the office is Wednesday, possibly not until after that. And schools have announced they are done for the year. Just done. I guess it's good it was so close to the end of school, I think there were only 2 or 3 days this week. I just can't wrap my head around all the damage.
I'm so glad you guys are safe. I have a few friends in high river, and let's just say the news has not been as good. I just read that they're expecting it in Medicine Hat now. Ugh.
I am south of Calgary, and while our river bottom flooded, we got out of this so lucky. It was very unnerving last night driving over the bridge and having the water just underneath it, running so fast. The pictures are so devastating.
I am, but I never post. We had a small amount of basement flooding (about 3 inches), but we pumped it out and are vacuuming up the water. My grandma lives in High River, so she is staying with us. She is going through cancer treatments in Calgary, so she was actually not home when the flooding started on Thursday. She's obviously super stressed about her condo. I feel so bad for everyone who has flooding, it's just terrible

Welcome, and I hope the damage isn't bad for you or your gran.

Thanks I am really concerned for her, because she is already not in the best health and this is just so stressful for her. I was going to take her for a spa day, but I guess she needs a special place due to the chemo, so I will keep looking. I just feel terrible for her, especially since before she moved into her condo, she was in the hospital for 6 months and her things were in storage and everything there was ruined by water damage. Now she has to buy everything all over again.

Delurking, I too am in Calgary. I'm in a community on a hill so not in any danger, but at the bottom of our hill is some of the worst flooding. I work downtown and now they're saying that one of the transformers that brings power to downtown may be damaged and if it is, it could be WEEKS before it's repaired. Also, I thought I'd just share this quote from our mayor because he is awesome.
STBXH lives in downtown, he was evacuated on Friday morning and is staying with friends in the north. He was told he won't be able to come back until Wednesday. Another friend told me the lower level of the underground parking where he lives is totally flooded to the ceiling. The images from the news and social media are scary. The calgary mayor is awesome. Ad He has been amazing in the response these last days.
