Yikes! That happened at my house once when I was a kid. The tree almost fell on my bedroom, and I was freaked out about it happening again and actually hitting the house for a long time.
Ugh, we had a massive dying tree in our side yard that took out our fence once and our neighbor's pool fence (and almost pool). That sucker came down last fall but before then every time a breeze would blow I would freak out. We have lots of large (healthy) trees in our yard and I always worry about limbs falling now.
We had two trees down on/next to our house. DD and I were on the freeway on the way home from dinner with friends when the storm hit. It came out of nowhere. There was zero visibility and the winds were insane. I have literally never, ever been so scared in my entire life. Then we came home to trees down. We definitely got lucky, because three neighbors have trees IN their houses.
Glad to see that your just hit the yard! Hope that cleanup isn't too awful.
@kizmet, we have some scratched paint and cedar shakes. We haven't been up on the roof yet, mainly because H was gone over the weekend and I'm not really in a position to be climbing on the roof. I feel like it will be just enough damage to need to be repaired, but not enough to warrant filing a homeowner's insurance claim/paying the deductible. Though it was our neighbor's tree that hit the house, so...
Did you have any damage to anything other than the gutter?
