Telling someone their makeup is ... bad

I would not offer a criticism. I might mention that I was heading to Sephora and that it would be fun to go together. And then I'd recommend we both get makeovers. And then I'd pray the SA has the sense to fix her, at which point I will squeal and ooh and ahh and hope the positive reinforcement works.

You have to make them think it's their own idea, otherwise you're an asshole.

Well, maybe I'm an asshole but I don't see the BFD about telling a friend she needs to blend. It's happened to me and I totally appreciate it.

My friends and I always tell each other. Not in a "what the hell is on your face" way, but "hey, you need to blend" or "oops, you've got a smudge." We haven't offended each other yet, bc we aren't dicks about it. If it wasn't someone close to me, I'd keep my mouth shut.
