Anybody read Roots by Alex Haley?

I just started it and I have another book that came up at the library. I was wondering if it is any good. It's starting off slow, but seems interesting.

I actually JUST bought a copy last Saturday! It's officially on the "to be read when I'm not working on my challenge or reading book club books" list!

It's a very good book - I think that you will like it.

I am reading the 100 books on the College Bound Reading List. Roots is on there. I read it a few months ago. It is by far one of the best books I have EVER read, and that's saying a lot! It does start out a little slow, but just give it a chance.

I'm glad you asked this question! Roots is in my TBR pile right now after I stumbled across it for pennies at a used book sale. Maybe this (and panicked's recommendation) will motivate me to start sooner.

Thanks. I'll keep going. It's a library book so I probably won't be able to finish it before it expires at over 800 pages. I'll just have to check it out again.
