I'm looking for a place to help with gay marriage based I-130s. And perhaps heading down to SF city hall to give out flowers to couples getting married (at end of July or earlier when they start issuing marriage licenses again).
I told my kid that now she can marry whomever she wants and the federal government will recognize it. She's excited and now wants to get married today. lol. (I love 2 year old logic).
I'm not entirely sure, but I know I am hopeful for the future.
Along these lines -- the boys have been fascinated with my wedding photos lately. Gabe, when Marc was still napping, was going through them with me and he was giggling/being sweet at the pictures of Jake and his mom dancing. I pointed at him and said in faux-seriousness "Gabe, whether you marry a man or a woman, if you get married I am getting a mother/son dance, okay?" He looked at me mirroring the seriousness, nodded, and said "ish" (which is his recent "yes" or "this," depending on context).

You are so sweet! You will for sure make their day even more!
I'm celebrating my birthday too today, so I'm feeling pretty damn lucky to have something so big happen on my birthday, lol. I've posted a few things on FB regarding the overturning of DOMA. This one is cute:
I am just very very happy for everyone, gay or straight. This is a HUGE day for our society and I pray that there is less hate and more love love love. You don't have to agree with someone to recognize that they have basic rights. As a Christian, I am praying hard that Christ followers act more like Christ and less like hateful bigots.
I'm going to marry a goat and post the picture on FB just to freak the fuck out of my uber-conservative cousins who are convinced that that is the slippery slope we are now going down. SMDH
I've known my friend since we were 12. We live together in Chicago and his boyfriend moved here from SFO. They have been talking about moving back out to CA at some point, but never really set a definite timeframe. They stopped talking about moving for awhile, but when IL decided not to vote on same-sex marriage during this session, they started talking about it again. My friend's company offers partner benefits, so they were planning on having a commitment ceremony next week, just the two of them and me as their witness, so that they could get registered at the county as required for the partner benefits.
This morning, we were all sitting on the sofa and after the SCOTUS ruling came down, my friend pulled out a ring and said to his boyfriend "How about we skip the civil ceremony and just go for it all?"
IL might be voting on same-sex marriage in the fall, so they will probably wait until then and see what happens here before deciding to go back to CA. Once they decide where to live, then we'll start planning the wedding

I would have said that I plan to dance at my sister's wedding, but they were married two weeks ago, and then again legally in Washington. She lives in CA so it will now be legally recognized. I am so choked up for her, and for every other gay person in the US, and for our country. Hearing her voice this morning was a celebration in itself. sonrisa, I LOVE that idea!

But no, we were going out to eat to celebrate DH's massive number of briefs that he's had to do in the past month, and well, we might as well celebrate DOMAGo!
