My first response was hell no! and I would worry about him if he did. Like did he hit his head, or something? BUT....a couple of months ago he had to go out of town for something other than working 15 hours a day, and he actually texted me from the Nike outlet store by his hotel and asked me what size running shorts and tank tops I would want. He must have been really bored at the hotel and he knows I am a workout clothes whore.
So, in answer to your poll...once. And I did not post about it on Facebook.
He never buys me clothes. I can't buy myself clothes without trying them on. There's no way he could randomly find something that fit and looked good.
He has occasionally bought me a pair of shoes, but my options are so limited that it's not hard. I have one style of tennis shoes that I wear most of the time, and he found them on sale, and called for my size and bought me a pair. I'm limited to flats, and Clarks flats almost always work. So when he saw a pair on clearance, he called for my size and bought it.
So far he has bought two coffee table books that he saw me admiring, and a pair of clearance earrings at Nordstrom Rack. So far his unexpected gifts have totalled to less than $80 over 6 years. What I'm starting to think your friend is doing is using the posts on facebook as positive reinforcement, which maybe I should start doing...
I have tiny narrow feet and a petite body, so buying me clothes/shoes without me there to try them on is impossible. I do like to take him shopping with me though. He hates it, but is great at finding things that look good and gives me a true honest opinion.
He doesn't buy much for me "just because". Instead he does things like all of the laundry, or cleans the kitchen/bathrooms while I sleep in. I'm ok with that.
No although with the exception of technical gear for skiing, but never everyday stuff. I buy all of his denim but nothing else, he's a hard fit and very particular about his clothing. I have a friend whose husband buys her bras (he bought her boobs too though).
I think I would keel over dead if H bought me clothes. He KNOWS what I like, but I KNOW he would pick out something way crazy or ill-fitting that I'd look ridiculous in it.
Shoes he has no idea what size I am and it varies so much by shoe too he would get the wrong ones.
My husband once came home late from work and surprised me with two boxes of shoes. I had recently busted my work shoes....the little rubber part on the heels both came off. He found an almost identical pair for me to replace them. I was completely floored.
