Yes and no. I try to have a day's worth of all my meds with me, so that if I get stuck somewhere I'm covered. I don't carry extra for just in case.
Obviously, everyone responds differently to treatment, and what is best for one person is not best for another. But for me, this is what works.
1) The goal is not to get rid of anxiety. It's to keep it at a manageable level. For me, this level is one panic attack a day is fine. Four or five is not. Constant low levels of anxiety are fine. Constant high levels of anxiety are not. 2) It's much easier to prevent anxiety than it is to stop it once I'm in a full blown attack. I use klonopin, because it's long lasting, and we keep a steady dose in me at all times. On days where I know my anxiety will be through the roof, we add an additional dose in the morning.
Anxiety and panic attacks are inevitable for me. If I fall, I'm going to have a panic attack. If I dislocate a joint, I'm going to have a panic attack. That's just the way it is. Going from multiple panic attacks a day to one has changed my life. For me, one a day is not a big deal. Love levels of constant anxiety are not a big deal. So it all comes down to your priorities and goals.
